“No. It was a mind dump, that stupid thing that used to happen because of what the Romulans did. It hadn’t happened since I got here, and it feels like it was making up for lost time,” Faye said. There was a lot she wanted to say to Jasmine, but she wasn’t sure if now was a good time or even if Jas wanted to talk about it at all. It was the realization that she still didn’t know her friend very well at all. If they were even still friends. Too much was at odds on the ship just now for it to be explained so she had no idea what Wynter knew or didn’t.

Jasmine nodded and looked at the results. “So there is some damage to the amygdala. It seems to be inflamed for lack of a better term but based on the rest of the scans and from what we know about the amygdala there is probably not any more damage that will be permanent. The meds you are on to help level out your moods can be adjusted if needed. The residual traces from the panic attack will go away. If you want I can give you a sedative to help you relax and possibly relieve some of the base symptoms.” Pulling out a tricorder she adjusted the settings and set it on the table.

“Wouldn’t be a terrible idea for later,” Faye said wearily.

“I have a mild analgesic here if you want it. It is programmed for timed doses so you can’t go wrong. Just put it on your arm and press this button. If it is not time the matching won’t deliver the meds.” The home hypo was nothing new. Since medicine got rid of things like pills and liquids for the most part people were familiar with stuff like this. Faye did take daily meds so she would know exactly what to do. Gathering up her gear, Jasmine stood up. “Need anything else,” she asked in a professional tone.

Need, want. What was the line? Jasmine seemed in no mood to be chit-chatty, and her head really didn’t want to just now either, but it was.. weird to just leave it at that. What did she need? All Faye could think about was Leroy recovering from his own terrible ordeal and her eyes welled with tears. She needed a lot of things: for Leroy to recover well, to know she was free and clear to live her life, , to know she could move about this ship without fear, to know just once that the rug wasn’t going to be pulled out from beneath her feet just as she got steady agin. She needed a lot of things. None of them were medical. Faye inhaled deeply and exhaled audibly. “Nothing a doctor can fix,” she said, unsure what else to say.

The chasm between them was so wide that Faye felt it was an impossible task to bridge it. She wanted to bridge it, but she didn’t know how. Faye thought back to their conversation in the botany lab where Jasmine had talked about how friendship worked. This thing between them now felt different than how she had described fights. This wasn’t a fight. And she didn’t know how to reconcile it. “Jas… for what it’s worth, I’m not guilty. I’ve committed no crime, and Cochrane can attest to that.” There. Something. A way in, perhaps, or maybe Wynter would just walk out and that was that. Who knew at this point.
