=/\=Acknowledged, Captain,=/\= Calloway replied. She did glance at Kiama and give a faux pout, but really she wasn’t going to be risky here. It was prudent to have additional information before they leapt into the mystery.

‘Yeah,’ Kiama mouthed silently, pretending to look equally disappointed about having to. But while she was more than curious to get a look and better readings off what was down there, she wasn’t going to walk blindly into a cave. Especially not on a planet where they knew a lot of strange things were going on.

Gesturing with her head, she leaned in towards Naim. “We can’t go in but we still have to get there,” she said with a grin as she moved off in the direction of the hills. “Let’s go.”

“Yes,” Kiama replied with a nod while trying not to chuckle audible; excitement and curiosity written plainly all over her dark features. After quickly checking that they had what they might need, she started to walk towards the weathered cliff face at a quick pace. “If you were to hazard a guess, what do you think we’ll find down there?” she asked curiously.

“Well, there was every indication of a ship below, so I’m wondering if this cave system is natural or constructed,” Faye said, picking up her kit and taking it with them. “If it’s constructed, it might have been a way to still access the ship. Who that’s wild conjecture at this point.”

“I’m still a little dumbfounded because of how old that piece of metal is I found. Of course I know that the universe is even older and that there were civilisations long before ours. And yet it’s still hard to wrap my head around it. Do you know what I mean?” Kiama mused

At that moment there was a shimmer of light about twenty feet from Faye and her group. As the light faded, Pretha and two other NEs were at her side. She smiled and nodded to the Specialist and the Science Chief. “Understand you guys are digging yourselves into a hole?” She teased and stepped towards the group as she hit her comm badge. =^=Oberon to Wyatt. We are with the Science Chief’s team, Sir.=^=

“Hey, I did no digging,” Faye said with a gleam, pointing her tricorder at the cave opening. “We need to check that’s there are no obvious dangers inside before we step in. We know the metal piece we brought back to the ship is very old, but we don’t know if it’s been here this whole time or cam much later.”

“Yes, no digging today,” Naim added, smiling widely as well. She was very excited to get a peak at the ship. Well, hopefully more than just a peak and it was a lucky coincidence (or maybe not so much a coincidence as intention) that there was a cave and that they didn’t have to dig through several metres of soil. Much faster that way, which she would have appreciated anyway. But under the current circumstances, it was even more important.

Pretha sighed. No, they hadn’t dug, but she wasn’t sure that disappearing underground was the best idea. But then again… She shook her head and exhaled a deep breath. =^=Captain, there is a natural cave entrance down towards the ship. We are heading in to see if we can get a better hit on whether there is an energy signature or something we can shut off to release the Manhattan. I’ll check in soon as we find something. But it’s our only shot right now.=^=

She waited just long enough to see if there was a resounding order to not go in.
