Faye had to hand it to Starfleet Command: they certainly knew how to keep a person on their toes. And at least her sudden change of assignment had given her such lengthly travel time that she had more than enough time to study files and catch up on the volumes of reading required for her new position. To be sure there was a lot of reading!

From Starbase 157, it was 70 lightyears and 38 days travelling at Warp 7 to Earth on the USS Tamberlain where she had a briefing at Starfleet Science Ops and others. She was given a couple days to rest in what one could ostensibly be called R&R and then it was back on a transport headed to the wormhole that would take her to Event Horizon Station.

Another month later and Calloway finally arrived at her initial destination. She had to say that the wormhole was something else entirely. Having never been to the Gamma Quadrant via that particular wormhole, she had no expectation about what it would be like. For a brief moment she could say she was awed. It might have surprised some of her former shipmates that she could in fact be awed, but she was a scientist after all, and there was nothing that stopped in her in tracks than a natural phenomenon that was well and truly worthy of her awe.

As she pondered the rest of the way to the station, Faye was aware of the changes. The info-dumps had slowed to a crawl but they could still happen under extreme stress. She was confident however that it was manageable, and more importantly, so was Command. She still thought them crazy, but after that moment on the Atlantis where she had let her fear run rampant over her future she swore she’d be open to taking chances. After all, she knew the consequences of life when you sat back and just let it happen to you. At least now she had some say. Challenge, accepted.

As the ship docked with the station, Calloway caught a glance of her new assignment and smiled. The future was at her doorstep and it looked far more enticing than she had given it credit for.
