She looked at him askance. “So if I hate it, you’re kicking me out?” she teased.

Grabbing a fork, Faye cut off the end and stabbed the bite, popping it in her mouth. Her eyes widened. “Wow! That’s certainly more tart than I was expecting. But in a good way,” she said, going in for another bite. “We definitely could have had this after the hasperat,” she said with a grin.

Alex smiled and said “We could have, but then we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to let me throw you about, now would we?” and he popped a bit in his mouth and grinned.

“Hey this is relatively light. I don’t know about you but I could have managed,” Faye said with a grin, cutting off another bite.

He ate a bite or two, and then paused and said “So… how is the time off? What are you doing outside of counseling? You don’t do well idle…” and he chuckled.

Faye chuckled as well. “No, I don’t.” She sipped her black coffee. “Um, well, depends on the day, but when I was doing my physical rehab on the Atlantis, my therapist at the time suggested yoga. So I tried it and really liked it. Been doing it ever since and this last week I’ve been doing it daily. Kinda helps ground me first thing. That, and I also have been doing a lot of journalling as a part of my therapy. I’ve gone back to techniques I was taught back when I was on medical leave at the inpatient treatment centre.A lot fo time just getting things out of my head as much as I can. Other than that, I’ve spent a lot of time in the garden.” She smiled softly. “A friend recently sent me a design he made for a mushroom house and I’ve just made it to the top of the industrial replicator queue, so that will be going up shortly, which I’m very excited for.”

“A mushroom house? Now that I would certainly like to see. I do love fresh mushrooms. Especially shitake and morelles.”

Pondering, she gazed back up at Alex. “And the rest of the time when I’m not worrying about my system has been largely and unexpectedly social. Just trying to solidify the friendships and stuff that were there before everything happened and trying to understand what is and means for me. Like this,” she said gesturing between the two of them. “But lest people think otherwise, I’m still very much an introvert,” she said with a lopsided grin.

He heard her mention her system and nodded. “Well, as you seem to be… in my opinion anyway… doing well with your recovery, I wouldn’t be averse to you spending an hour or two doing system review and maintenance. But only with Commander Rollo’s approval. But you can tell her I said so. Just stress that that is for you and her to decide, ok? I don’t need that woman mad at me.” and he chuckled and took a bite.
