Stretching her neck forward, her right hand let go of his shirt and slipped up to his neck, fingertips pressing against the back of his head needfully. She had thought after that night together that all the tension between them had thoroughly been released, but here she was kissing him just as deeply, just as hungrily.
When she finally pulled back a bit, releasing their lips, Faye was breathing heavily. It occurred to her that she had no idea what to do here. She had no idea what was happening. Yes, she had been down the road of a passionate fling, but was that what this was? The hell if she knew! “Well then…” she said at length.

“Well then..” Luke said looking at Faye across the very small gap between them, “I like kissing you Faye Calloway” He said cheesily, but it was the truth, and every time they did kiss he was disappointed whenever they stopped, he leaned in and kissed her again small bits of dirt had managed to make it onto his lips, and the kiss was tender yet gritty which made him chuckle. “Is this going to keep happening?” He wondered aloud”.

Well that was the question, wasn’t it? “I don’t know,” she whispered. And if her senses suddenly returned to her, Faye dropped the hand at the back of his head and used it to braced herself carefully on he wheelbarrow she she pushed herself up and around him, her back bending backwards rather easily as she slipped through the narrow space between him and the wheelbarrow.
“Right” He said in a whisper a little dejected as he helped pick up the shovels and wheelbarrow.
While no one would accuse Faye of being able to detect the nuance of someone’s tone, she did turn her gaze back on him for a moment, calculating the possibilities.
On her feet, she exhaled a shaky breath and turned back to him. All Faye could do was shrug with a bewildered sort of expression. “Come on, let’s at least finish getting the dirt on the bed where it belongs,” she said, moving around for the shovels and striding off to his plot.

“Sure, let’s go before someone see’s this mess” he kicked some of the mud with his trainer. he followed behind her. He knew he shouldn’t have asked or said what he had said but he felt it and surely she did too. Sucking up his dignity he decided to put the thought to the back fo his head and just get the gardening finished, it didn’t mean they couldn’t still enjoy each others company.

Faye stood ready when he arrived behind her and it was to her credit that she managed to not look over her shoulder to see if he’d try something else. But ahead of him and facing forward he couldn’t see the tiny grin that slipped onto her face.
Arriving at his plot he set the wheelbarrow down and picked up his own shovel, he’d noticed she hadn’t looked at him since their kiss and wondered what she was thinking. Knowing that asking her would only alienate her more he decided to get busy and began to shovel the dirt from the wheelbarrow and into the plot, they’d have to do another trip given that most of its contents had been thrown about.
Shovel hitting the dirt, Faye set about getting Luke’s bed ready like hers. But as they worked a thought wiggled about in her brain demanding attention. “Luke… are you afraid of me?” she asked softly, her features shifting in to worry.
~Faye Calloway
He paused whipping a bead of sweat from his eyebrow before resting on the shovels handle, “Afraid? I wasn’t until you asked me that question.” He smiled trying to lighten the mood but soon realised she was serious, “I was never afraid of you, intimidated maybe but that’s only because you’re so strong and capable. I’m not anymore and im certainly not afraid of you. What I am afraid of though is saying the wrong thing, I’m constantly thinking about how to say something because I care more than I probably should do about what you think of me. Sometimes it would be easier if I knew what you were thinking.” Luke figured now was not the time for being dishonest and reinforcing false images.
