“Dude, my preferred temperature with food is spicy enough to blow my face off,” she said with a grin. “Like I said, I’ve got you covered.” Faye reached into the right leg pocket for her seed packets and riffled through them until she came to one and wiggled. “I was going to start some of these anyway. Bajoran variety. They are a reaper level of heat, with a really well rounded flavour on the back end. Great for cooking,” she said shifting the packet to the pocket on her left leg. “As for tomatoes..”-she riffled through the packets and pulled out another, also shifting it to her left pocket-“you want something good for cooking, more flesh, less water. So a paste tomato works better in your favour.” Faye grabbed both their shovels. “We’ll start these in the greenhouse in a few minutes, but grab that wheelbarrow and we’ll go grab a load of compost for your bed and get it sorted while we’re here.”

Luke really found the way Faye spoke and the words she used compelling, he’d never met anyone to have used words like dude and her mannerism always kept him on his toes. The friendship that was developing was good for Luke and it was having a knock on effect in his day to day, people were actually beginning to enjoy his company all thanks to Faye. He’d never her tell her that though for risk of having his ear burned off by the mocking. He couldn’t help but smile, “He took the packets and looked over them, they had pictures ofthe plant and a brief description of how to maintain them, luckily for him he had Miss Green-finger here to tell him just what to do.

Faye headed off for the compost pile on the far side of the greenhouse next to the storage room, her steps light.

Grabbing the Wheel barrow Luke followed behind her, for some reason he had the sudden urge to scoop Faye in and deposit her in said Compost pile and while he felt they had come along way from when they first met he wasn’t sure he’d escape that action with his life. “So how have you been doing?” He asked attempting some small talk, it had been a few days since they last met and Luke honestly missed the company, not that she was the only person he looked forward to seeing but she was on of them.

Faye handed him one of the shovels and nodded slowly. “Okay. Things have calmed down a bit but I’m still not back on duty. Probably will be a few days more.” She shrugged before she starting moving compost from the pile to the . “So I fill my time with therapy, gardening, yoga and trying to not obsess over the fact that I can’t go crawl through the ship and check on things right now.”

He took the shovel she offered and began to move the compost from where it was stored and into the wheelbarrow. “Sounds like you’re getting the time of you need, that’s a food thing right?” He paused and then added, “You know if you really want to go crawling through the ship who’s to say we can’t?” Crawling through the innards of the ship wasn’t exactly his idea of fun but if it helped Faye then he’d be willing to make that Sacrifice.

Faye drew in a sharp breath and exhaled loudly as she transferred the compost. “The time off is a good thing. Given everything that happened, I’ve had a lot to work through and that takes time. It won’t always affect my day-to-day life so much but I’d be lying if I said I was doing better than okay. And as much as I want to be doing work, I’m off duty. I could go off sneaking into the jefferies but not only would that be acting against direct orders, it’s not in my best interest.” She stopped, resting the tip of the shovel down on the ground and looked at Luke. “You should understand better than most that you don’t get to choose what your triggers are. One of the complications of my situation, and my disorder, is that when I’m under a lot of stress, like I’ve been, I can have a lot of sudden issues crop up out of nowhere. It’s bad enough with triggers I can’t predict, going out of my way to inflict potential harm on myself would not be wise right now. I need a few more days I think.”

He nodded, Luke more than most understood what she was going through. Not completely ofcourse as everyone reacted different and he had his own stories to tell. “No, I understand completely just know that I’m here for you whenever you want and besides the time of seems to be paying dividends you seem happier, more grounded it’s nice seeing you like this” Luke tipped the last of the compost into the wheel barrow it now full, he may need someone more later but this was a sure way of bedding the seeds. “Anything else we need whilst we’re here?” He asked before they set back off towards his allotment, waiting for her response as he leaned on the shovels handle.
