Micah nodded and locked eyes with him and said “Ok… then after your PT today I have to start your debriefing. Now, it’ll just be you and I, no one else. But the Counselor said you are strong enough mentally, so it has to be done. I know it will be hard on ya… but you and I both know we ain’t got no real choice.” and he leaned back in the chair.

Strickland nodded. “I’d been expecting as much. I could tell the way my counselling sessions were shifting that we were prepping for it.” His hands curled into fists, but after a deep breath, he released his fingers. “How come just you? No one form Intelligence is coming?”

Micah looked at him and smiled a somewhat regretful smile. “So about that… I’m not keeping Intel in the loop for the time being. Oh, they know you are here, and most of what happened. But this is now FedSec territory. I’ll bring Intel in when I feel like they need to come in. I’m not a big fan of theirs right now, not even knowing you had been swiped. And since I don’t know who else may be involved, we’re just gonna keep this on a higher plane of existence than them for the time being.”

A lot said and yet not nearly enough. But Strickland was far too experienced an officer to bother going down that pointless path. “Right,” was all he said.

“Now on a much lighter note… your girl Calloway was given a commendation. Starfleet Decoration for Valor and Gallantry. Rarified air, right there. Seems her Skipper put her up for the Pike Medal for Bravery, but your jackass Intel folks canned it. But still… she did good. Hell, without her?” and he grinned at Leroy.

“I’d have never seen ya naked.” and he winked at him.

“And you’d have missed out on so much,” Leroy said with feigned seriousness. But his face immediately slipped into a grin and he snorted with amusement. “Bet she hated that,” he said, grinning wider. “But good, she’s deserved something for awhile, even before this mess.” He looked back at Pikelsimer. “Did you know she survived nine months with the Tal Shiar before she went to the Manhattan? Wasn’t reallyinterested in getting to understand her experience so directly but here we are. And there was a part of me at times that knew if she could survive it, I could too.”

Micah nodded. “Yeah… read the unredacted files on my to give you a lift from that spa you were hanging out at. Nasty business, that…” and he looked off for a moment. While Strickland would probably never know, Micah knew exactly how he felt. Faye, too. His metal hand flexed unconsciously and then he came back to the present. “So… you go ahead and get your workout done, then a sonic shower and we start. Okay?” and he stood up and went to the door. Opening it, he looked around and then found the Charge Nurse. ‘Daphne, sweetheart, could you be a dear and see that Nurse Timor takes my boy here down for his PT? I’d be most appreciative.” A giggle was the only acknowledgement that came into the room and Micah looked back at Strickland and winked.

“You’re a treasure, you know that?” he said, knowing it could prompt a couple of different responses depending on how Micah felt like responding in that moment.

Leroy moved carefully off the bed, but found his range of motion was better than even yesterday. He couldn’t wait till he could roam about a bit more on his own, but for now he’d just have to be patient with himself and everyone else.

“From your lips to God’s ears, my man.” Micah said while looking out the door. In a moment, he said out the door “Fantastic. Front door limo service. First rate place, this is.” and he stepped aside so that Nurse Timor could bring in the chair Leroy would take to physical therapy. As the man made his way into the room, Micah began making a multitude of gestures behind his back; consisting mostly of hip gyrations and an extended finger on one hand… and a circle made with thumb and forefinger on the other.

The only reaction Leroy gave was ever so slightly raised brows that contrasted the glimmer in his eyes. “Thanks so much,” Strickland said to Timor with a warm smile. Despite Piklesimer’s antics, the fact was that right now, in his half healed state, he was just happy he could even see the nurse. The state of the art optics in the new eyes certainly didn’t hurt matters either, and they were decently natural looking, all told.

As the fine looking Timor moved him out, Leroy gave just the tiniest wink in Micah’s direction.

Micah looked at him and said loudly “You be good and do everything the good nurse asks of you, Leroy!”

As the chair rounded the corner of the desk and went out of the door to the ward, Micah paused for a moment and then looked at his watch. The tracker-slash-transporter beacons in Strickland’s eyes were active and pinging loud and clear. Micah didn’t like the additions, but had insisted on them while Strickland was under and being prepared for surgery. He would make sure that, once their ‘business’ was done, they would be removed during his final ‘calibration checks’. He wanted to protect the man… not monitor his every move for the rest of his life.

Making his way over to the Charge Nurse, he leaned against the desk and said “So, my dear… when are you gonna take this war-horse out and show him the sights on this little station of yours?” and he winked, eliciting a smile and small giggle.
