Faye nodded slowly and looked up at him. “I was fifteen, Luke. My parents built a life on our colony and then fought to defend it. Like I said, everyone ‘as regrets. But.. I don’t regret fightin’. ‘Cause I did fight at times. Not a lot, but I helped my parents, or at least my dad with tech stuff. My mom disappeared when I was thirteen. She wasn’t dere when the Dominion came. I’m sorry our fight caused her death, but I can’t and won’t take responsibility for every hurt everyone else experienced at the hands of a group that numbered on the thousands. It’s not fair,” she said adamantly. She was tired of being blamed for stuff she couldn’t have done anything about. And while she had regrets, to this day defending her home in the way she could was not one of them.

“I never said I was blaming you for anything, everyone has their differences some worst than others. I have my own fair share of things I’m not proud off too” He leaned back placing his free right hand on the top of the sofa and began to take in the bare room, “Were rather alike, perhaps more than we would care to admit., and that is a scary notion for either of us to consider.”

There was a lot of things Faye could admit to being scared of, but finding similarities with others was not one of them, not even someone she had butted heads with like Wyatt. Again, it spoke to the way people assumed she saw them and often was was rather quite different.

Calloway chuckled. “Besides, as everyone who hates us is ‘appy to remind us, we got ours well and good when the Cardassians joined the Dominion. Don’cha worry Luke, we paid for our resistance…” she said with a bitter laugh. All these years later the memory of the bodies scattered all over their settlement was etched vividly in her mind.

His gaze fell back to Faye, there really wasn’t much else to look at in a room so stark. “And we paid our dues too.” He raised his glass, “To shattered memories and damaged pasts” He took a longing gulp before settling again. “You know this stuff’s illegal right? Even out here in the Delta Quadrant” He joked shaking his head, “Im going to regret this in the morning, well later on really.” He paused then thought about his words, “The drinking not talking to you of course, I’ve…” He paused again and decided what the heck, a little liquid courage inside of him. “I’ve enjoyed talking to you.”

“Glutton for punishment, you are,” she said as she gave him a lopsided smile and reached for the quickly emptying bottle. “It’s very legal, ashually,” she said. “You’re thinkin’ of Romulan ale, their other blue drink. Dat stuff will knock ya on your ass after a glass or two. Dis is Romulan whiskey. Less… ass kicking, more taste.” She poured herself another glass and knocked back half of it.

“Though, I might regret drinking this much later today.” Faye started chuckling. “I was supposed to go see de counsellor after I had some sleep. She might have something to say if I show up drunk. Ah well… won’t be the first mistake I make in all dis.”

~A rather drunk Faye Calloway

“Ah counsellor Rollo” Luke said as someone who was reminiscent of an old friend, in truth he had met her a few times with the last being a somewhat of a date meet counselling session They went scuba diving, one of his more favourable past times and while Luke enjoyed her company nothing come of it, “She’s good at her job, I know counselling isn’t for everyone but it helped me get through the worst of it” He finished his drink, the effect of having drunken so much already paying dividends. “We all make mistakes, I made one when I met you, I decided your motives before actually getting to know you, now look at us.” He motioned between them, “Were finally not at each others throats”

She laughed openly. “Awww, we never really were. Trust me, you would know if we were.” She tossed back a bit more of her whiskey and rose to her feet, setting the nearly empty glass on the table. By her estimate she had consumed at least half the bottle herself and there was only one quarter left. Time for some water.

He brushed off her warning, (yet another one) “For sure, we’d probably both end up in the brig.” She wasn’t the only one capable of doing ‘some damage’ but he didn’t desire to do any not then and certainly not now. He watched her finish her glass and set his own. It would have been rude for him to continue drinking if she had decided to stop and besides he was already more intoxicated than he had planned to have been.

By this point her body temperature has risen with each glass of alcohol she had consumed and the soft sweater she had tossed on earlier was getting a bit much. In a more fluid motion than she shouldn’t have been able to managed this tipsy, Faye pulled the sweater over her head and tossed it over the back of one of her dining chairs. Rolling her shoulders to encourage some flexion in her spine, Faye smiled. She was still dressed in the black outfit from the brig, but whether that bothered her or not was not apparent. But it was figure hugging and, as she had thought when Rollo gave it to her, rather flattering.

Luke did his best not to notice that she was wearing the same clothes she had in the brig but more so that it hugged her body leaving little to the imagination as to the frame of her body, he’d not noticed before but it was flattering and he would be denying her the truth if he didn’t say she looked good. He mentally shook the thought, maybe get was far drunker than he figured and decided to shift his gaze, the last thing he needed was for her to see him staring.

Replicating a couple glasses of water, Faye moved back over and set one glass on the table for herself and held the other out to Luke. “Here, better drink up. You hungry at all?”

~Faye Calloway

“Sure I could eat,” He said a little too quickly, trying to dismiss his previous thoughts, there wasn’t any place for that on a Starship, or so at least he would tell himself for now. ” He took the glass and held it to his lips, “Didn’t poison it right?” He joked before taking a sip.
