Natalie could not sleep, two away teams gone from the ship, no communications or way to help them if they got into trouble.. it lead to a restless night for the Captain and she finally gave up and wandered the ship. All life support and electrical was at minimum output so the ship had a very low dull source of light in the corridors. Her first stop was the science labs to check on the folks there to make sure that they were doing okay.

A weary crew member was in the lab cleaning up the mess still. Seeing the Captain, he stood at attention. “Captain?” asked the scientist, “May I be of any assistance?”

Natalie smiled “At ease ensign. I am just wandering the ship and checking on people. Can’t sleep. How much damage was done to the science labs from the crash.” She said helping the crew man clean up some of the mess that lay around the labs.

CO

“As you are aware, Captain, the Brazen is designed much like Defiant class ships but slightly larger. We are fortunate to have a single Science Lab at our disposal, but most of the sensitive equipment was either damaged or destroyed from the EPS surge from the plasma storm we passed through as the ship exited the anomaly,” replied the ensign, “With the majority of crew been treated, I drew the short straw on clean up duty in the lab for the first couple of hours. I’ve been mostly trying to see if anything works, picking up the items off the floor that are not broken but it’s difficult with main power offline still. It is with great fortune that since we were a brand new ship, no one was running any experiments at the time.”

Natalie nodded “Well, I don’t mind helping you clean up a little bit before your relief gets here.” She said as she set one of the microscopes upright again “Have you had your injuries treated if you have any?” She asked concerned about the safety and well being of her crew as she continued to help NE Vulcan clean up.

CO

“Yes Captain, I visited the medical triage in the cargo bay after the crash. My injuries were light but thanks to our excellent doctors, I am okay… sore, but okay,” said the crew member with a smile, trying to keep his Captain’s spirits up. “I do appreciate the assistance Captain, but uh… is there something troubling you to be here this late?”

Natalie chuckled “Well, the fact that the ship is crashed and we have no idea where we are.” She said “I just felt the need to wander the ship and check on everyone and make sure that they are doing okay as well.” She said “Old habits die hard.”

CO

“Hmm, yes… Humans do indeed have that habit. Engineering crews took my commbadge hours ago in attempt to reprogram the commbadge for EM frequency. I have understood the work is successful but slow going, perhaps you could inquire the status, Captain? It would certainly help to be able to contact the next officer to relieve me of my job should they be late,” said the NE Vulcan.

Natalie finished picking up a few more pieces “I’ll go check on that now.” She said “I’ll see if we can’t get it to you as soon as possible.” Natalie said as she turned “If you need anything else please let me know.” She said.

With that Natalie left the science labs and headed to main engineering. The one place she actually felt more at home than on the Bridge. She walked into the engineering compartment and looked around for one of the engineers.
