The time spent with the Counselor had been interesting. They hadn’t claimed her incompetant, so here she stood, hand passing over the chime to the Captain’s office. If she wasn’t here, she’d check the bridge. She tugged her tunic into play to be sure she was neat and waited for a response. She could have done a location check, but this way also a way to familiarize herself with the ship in a more active way.Lt Amber Donnelly
Chief Medical Officer
Natalie was sitting at her desk, a prosthetic arm in front of her, and the CO wearing a pair of engineering goggles “Enter.” She said without looking up from what she was doing until she finished resetting the bio neural node that had gone out before looking up “Lt. Welcome to the Asimov. Have a seat. Would you care for a cup of coffee or glass of tea?” She asked standing up and extending her hand to the new Chief Medical Officer.
“Water, but I can get it,” she said and moved into the room. “If that’s ok…”
“Tell me a little bit about yourself, how did you find yourself in Star Fleet Medical?” She asked.
CO
Amber paused as she made sure it was clear to get the water as she smiled. “I guess it just made sense to me. People out here get hurt, too. Right? And there are more than enough folks willing to help on Earth, though they have no desire to go into space. And even fewer still willing to leave it all behind for deep space.” She sounded like someone who just didn’t understand those kind of choices. How could someone ‘not’ want to explore out into the unknown?
“Though, I admit it wasn’t my first choice. I had thought I’d be an engineer. The idea of fixing nacelles and working around warp cores just thrilled me. Trouble is,” she laughed, “I can’t tell a hypo spray from a spano wrench. The basic medical classes everyone takes had me fascinated. And the next thing I knew,” she smiled and spread her arms, “here I am. And I assure you, I am happy to be so. I studied hard and I earned my way to where I am. No short cuts, no cheating. I want to lead another group of doctors and nurses to the passion I found in deep space medicine.” It sounded like a speech. But it was also entirely sincere.
