“Anything else, sirs?” Jon asked. He was interested in going aft to look at the generators himself, see just what was left after the NEs had stripped the broken ones to shore up their single functional one.

Maybe, just maybe, there would be enough to cobble together a second with what few spare parts they had on hand or could cobble together from systems they weren’t using and couldn’t use at this point.

“Aye aye, sirs,” Jon replied, pivoting and heading out of the compartment.

One of Jon’s coworkers came up to Ensign. “So… what now?” asked his fellow Ensign, “The hydrogen fuel is only going to last us for only so long. And who knows how stable the fusion generator really is. We weren’t using exactly perfect condition parts.”

“We’re going to go have a second look. Check the condition of the tanks, check the condition of the generators y’all took apart, see what we might be able to repurpose,” Jon said, beckoning the NE to follow him aft.
