: : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Whoa, there! Let’s not immediately jump to conclusions, shall we? I never said that he wasn’t where he was supposed to be,” Andromeda raised her hands in a way of signifying for her to slow down a bit. She then sighed at the inevitability that he could have easily not been. “I can check into his logs, of when he came to shift and when he left. At that time, it’s pretty docile, so the supervisor knows generally where officers are and if they’re not where they are meant to be. He might be a good place to start, before looking fully into Frenette. His name is Ensign Hopkins, if you needed to know.”

: : : : : : : : : : : “What if Ensign Hopkins is the ring leader?” asked a security NE.

: : : : : : : : : : : GM
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : “Mm,” Andromeda seemed to mule over the words of the NE, for several seconds. “Yes, I suppose that would pose an issue. In that case, Frenette might be better to approach on his own. Then again, should he actually be one of the saboteurs, he probably wouldn’t admit to it. That, or grow antsy and run. It doesn’t seem there would be a good way to figure it out. Then again, y’all are Security. You probably have your ways.”

: : : : : : : “You know we are on a starship,” Slade said probably more sarcastic than necessary. She tried to keep that part of her personality unders control but sometimes it just slipped out. This time it was directed more due to frustration with the situation than anything else.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : “There are other ways to run, if someone is desperate enough.” Andromeda did not speak with sarcasm, instead a certain sass implemented into peculiar thoughtfulness.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : “What if the plan is to create disharmony and paranoia among the crew?” asked an Engineering NE.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : GM
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : “Possible,” Sentrya remarked, pondering the question for several seconds. “Every problem has a root,” The Oregon native remarked. “If one was trying to cause disruption and paranoia, then it would likely start with one person. A ripple effect, if you would. From one to the neck, it would probably spread like a Lane Wildfire.” She remarked, speaking only from a sense of common sense and general nature. “I suppose that all depends on how long it has been since this disruption began, and should that be the goal, who were the first to note it.” She was no security officer, and she knew that. So, she didn’t have the greatest base to go off of.

: : : : : : : “That sounds more like it. I mean that is what I would do. Rumor and innuendo cause more problems than actual facts sometimes.” Vanessa looked around the room and a thought came to her mind. “What if we fight fire with fire. Create a controlled rumor mill of our own. We start a rumor that we have the saboteur. I can lock down a cell, post a few guards and not let them rotate out. This might cause the real saboteur to come see who we are pinning it on or at the very least give them the sense they have more breathing room,” Slade offered to the group. “You know your department. Are they water cooler gossipers?”

: : : : : :
: : : : : : Andromeda’s green eyes lit up when she mentioned this idea. “Why yes, anyone would be a fool to think that Engineers don’t have gossipers within their ranks.” She remarked, thinking for a second. “If you’re going to do that, you might want to focus i more with than ensigns and those that are of a younger age. After all, they are more likely to be the ones to spread a rumor. Yes, the older officers might consider it, but they’re probably more mature than that, by this stage of their lives.” She considered.

: : : : : “Then lets come up with a rumor,” Slade said.

: : : : “Who do you think would be the best for such a rumor? Speaking of department and status,” Andromeda inquired, thinking for a few moments.

: : : “Well, security is the only department that has unfettered access to the entire ship with patrols and monitors and such. Looking at it objectively, we have the access but not typically the technical skill. We are also the only department that can remove anyone pretty much from their job. Let’s have security be the vector. They spread the rumor that they have a lead on who planted the device. We dont get specific. I mean it could have been built in science or engineering, carried by security, and planted by someone in engineering. I will let it slip we have a lead and the patrols will begin to talk about it on rounds and we monitor to see what happens. I will get on it,” Slade said walking out.

: : : “So are you sure the guy did it,” NE Smith said to the patrolman partner NE Wesson.
: : :
: : : “From what I hear. We just need to nab and grab him,” NE Wesson said turning a corner and entering the Mess Hall. Nothing spread gossip faster than the gym and the mess hall. They had already spent the morning in the gym. Now they could eat and relax. Today was a good day to be a security JO.

: : OOC: Oi! I lost this. My apologies!!
: :
: : IC: “It seems like he did! I mean, this rumor seems to make a lot of sense. Who isn’t to say that they’re already on him, though? Maybe if they look into it further, security officers, I mean, then they might get this guy! Especially, if they have a lead.” The young science Ensign exclaimed, excitedly. He was giddy to know they could possibly have a lead. It nearly didn’t register to his mind that this could possibly be a hoax, played by some dimwitted man.

: “Easy there John McClane Junior,” Slade gave him a side glance. His exuberance put him squarely on the ‘well you are definitely deflecting’ radar but he was also on the young side and people often loved to be in the know as the saying went. Maybe his imagination of explosions, chases down the hall, and nabbing the crook who had a catchy phrase as he was hauled off to jail was clouding his judgment. “Just keep your eyes open and report anything to the chief here,” Slade nodded to Sentrya. “If there is nothing more I will get my teams on this,” Vanessa looked at the chief for concurrence.

: Lt Vanessa Slade, security officer
Sentrya rose her eyebrows, nodding towards the opposing officer with a nature of confirmation by the Lieutenant’s notation about there being nothing more about this. “Of course, Lieutenant. I will keep close attention on this, in case of further revelation.”
