Location Unknown - For Information is Life

: “You’re leaving me again,” she whispered in a soft spoken voice, her shining blue eyes stared at the floor trying to avert his sullen gaze. Locks of long blonde hair covered the left side of her face and flowed down her slender shoulders, “For longer this time.”
:
: Marcus kept his eye upon his slender wife. The sun beams gleamed off her soft skin through the garden leaves. Her crimson dress danced around her whenever a breeze swooshed in. Marcus gave a sly smile towards his wife and gently touched her bare arms.
:
: “It won’t be as long as you think Melody,” he replied to her, “Before you know it, I will be right back here close to you.” Marcus motioned closer toward her, his right arm still caressing her arm while his left wrapped around her waist. He pushed her closer to him, his sly smile becoming a devious smirk, “In the mean time, we have a little time to ourselves before I ship off.” He tilted his head a bit and slowly kissed her from shoulder to neck.
:
: Melody’s hand came up Marcus’ tone chest and gently pushed him away. “Would you truly have me like this?” she asked, her soft spoken had not changed, even during his advances, “Do truly see me as I am this way? My thoughts are here, but I am just a hologram to which there is no touch from that I may feel.”
:
: “Is this all I have left?” her voice trembled and tears filled her eyes, yet the rest of her body stood still.
:
: Marcus stepped back, his head lowered by the sting of her words, “It won’t always be like this my love,” He moved back to her and gently kissed her lips, “You will feel me again.” Marcus stared into her eyes for what seemed like ages, “Computer. Disconnect connection. End garden program.”
:
: Melody and the garden faded from view. In its place Marcus stood in a small round holodeck no bigger than ten foot in radius. he turned and made his way out the exit.
:
: Outside the holodeck, Marcus was in a much larger room abuzz with computers running and a deep rumbling sound of exhausts overhead. A tall lengthy of a gentleman stepped forward to greet Marcus.
:
: “I take it, she did not respond the way you wished,” the man asked.
:
: “She is becoming more aware each day Doctor Oshkis,” Marcus replied, his eyes not even looking at the man, his gaze more toward a large glass window that separated the room he was in from the next. He walked over to the window and stared down at the bed within. Upon the bed was a figure, wrapped in a what looked to be a scaly body suit. A large metallic semi-circle machine covered half her face. Tubes of all kinds poked out of the semi-circle machine. It was straight out of some Japanese animation.
:
: “That she is.” Oshkis answered back in such an antagonizing tone. He looked over Marcus, seeming to know what buttons to push, “It is both a blessing and a curse. To be alive within a dream in that world and in the reality of dying in this one. You realize the more she stays this way, the more she realizes your encounters are not just some dream of a dying woman.”
:
: “I know that!” Marcus gritted his teeth in anger, “All I want to know is when will the cloning be done and she can be whole again.” Marcus already knew the answer and he hated himself for it.
:
: Dr. Oshkis took the chance to remind him anyway, handing over a PADD to Marcus, “All in good time my friend. After all, information is life. The more information we receive, the better the life expectancy.”
:
: Marcus snatched the PADD out of the doctors hands, he responded in controlled anger, “You’ll get what your bloody well looking for. But if anything happens to her, I swear I’ll kill you.”
:
: “Now now Marcus,” the doctor replied dismissively, “Talk like that will get you nowhere. After all, it was you who brought her to me. Now go before you miss your flight. And don’t worry, she will still be here when you get back. Hell, I’ll even let you contact her through the Oasis from time to time. In no time you will be back and she will be very much full of life.”
:
: “A life filled by information of course.”
:
: Marcus took one last look at the motionless body of his beloved Melody, searching for a way to calm his anger. Without finding his answer, he turned and stormed out of the room, leaving Dr. Oshkis with a mere smile on his face.
:
: “Ah love,” Oshkis said to a now empty room, “What one will do for such a thing.”
