An hour had past from leaving the Starbase. All the sudden, the ship shook violently.

“An anomaly has just opened half a meter in front of us, bearing 000, mark 241!” said the Ops NE, “We’re being pulled in!”

“I can’t back out, sirs!” replied the NE at the helm, “The anomaly is accelerating us in!”

From his station, Idari began to think fast. He began to download the sensor data from his station to a handheld device that he always kept on hand. He wasn’t sure what use the information would have - if any - but he might be able to calculate the speed at which the anomaly appeared, and if there were any indications of its beginnings before its full appearance. The moment he heard that they were being pulled in, Solit did the one thing that came to mind - he started a timer the moment that the anomaly filled the view screen.

Idari’s Vulcan mind would have calculated that the first detection of the anomaly’s presence and their entry was 8.2948 seconds. It was brief enough for the sensors to register the anomaly, and detect a partial composition. Idari’s later study of the data would reveal that it was similar to both the a subspace gravity well, and the sinkhole that pulled the Voyager into the region of space known as The Void. It would also show a similar composition to a wormhole, as well.

The ship was sucked into the anomaly.

The computer would registered that they were being accelerated to Warp 9.9975, but the warp drive was not active. Nor was it responsive. The Operations NE did a scan of the anomaly but the sensors were not registering the internals of the anomaly, so there was no way to counter act the anomaly’s effects.

Meanwhile, Idari was running calculations as to how far the anomaly was pulling them. Although he was aware that a space tunnel could take them much farther than normal warp travel - wormhole, quantum slipstream, the Flea’tan Relays - if the anomaly was simply accelerating them to the warp factor indicated, he could at least calculate the distance that they had traveled.

Presumably, if the experienced Commander Solit were to make adjustments to the sensors, he would detect trace levels of chronitons, which could indicate that they traveled in time as well… thereby making any distance calculation rather useless.

Keegan saw what’s on the screen “Report!!!” inquisitively asked

“We got pulled into an anomaly, sir!” replied the Operations officer, “The computer is registering the speed at Warp 9.9975, I don’t know how much the structural integrity field and the deflector will hold at this speed! The Brazen-class ship is only rated to go at a max of 9.5!”
