The ship was on emergency life support and power was running at a bare minimum. The consoles were all inoperative now. The comm system was also down. Any data that was recorded, would not be obtainable until some power was restored… and anyone who managed to gleam information in the short time period or acted quickly would have been able to remember possible important details about the anomaly and/or the planet.
