“Although I’m sure you may have expected this, I’m sorry to inform you that the Asimov has been deemed unrecoverable by Starfleet. Much of the crew has been transferred to other positions within Starfleet. You are the remaining crew members without new assignments.” She paused for a moment to allow the words to sink in across the room. “A new USS Asimov in the Brazen class will be commissioned shortly and you will be returned to your previous postings on the new ship. Starfleet will redirect new personnel to fill in any vacancies. Any questions so far?”

Unlike some senior officers, her question seemed to be genuine as she made eye contact with several individuals around the room.

Natalie spoke up “How soon will the ship be commissioned so that we can continue with our mission?” She asked from her seat, she really wanted to ask what had happened to the Admiral and what was going to happen to her and why was her son being allowed to be an attache. But those questions were best saved for later.

“The ship is docked here and ready for you to take command,” the commodore responded with a small smile. From behind her she produced a bottle of delightfully aged champagne. “I thought you might need this,” she commented as she offered it to Greer.

In his head he wanted to know what they were to do with the renegade admiral and if any sort of apology would be forth coming from fleet command. However what he said instead was nothing. Just stood waiting.

‘Brazen-class?’ Jonathan thought, wracking his brain before finally recalling the class in question. ‘Small, decently armed, Defiant-style destroyer. Well, that could be interesting. New build too, so no telling how many faults we’ll run into and have to fix that the yards botched. Still, a lot less likely to have something go wrong than a refit ship that was new when my grandfather was starting his career.’

He’d have to look up the specs once they were dismissed.

“This might seem a tad dense,” Lucas said “what the bloody hell happened to the Admiral who tried to kill us? I mean, thanks for the new ship. But if someone can self destruct us at will…”

“Dr. Calvin has a point Commodore. What about the Admiral?”

The commodore’s previously happy facial expression fell quickly at the questions from the counselor and the commanding officer. She sighed with resignation, as though she had been waiting for them to hit upon that point. “We have not managed to locate her ship,” she calmly responded. “It appears, though, on further discovery, that the reports of the attacks were fabricated. Other ships assigned to investigate did not find any indication of attacks where supposedly reported.” She paused there to give the crew a moment to react to the news.

Rebecca had been watching form the side lines “That’s a shame i would of loved to put a round between her eyes.” she said coldly “So she manged to play starfleet command like a fiddly. How embarrassing and annoying.” she added Rebecca was trying to figure out f the commodore was one of the officers that had signed her pardon, and been one of the ones that were happy about it. it really didn’t have much significance but she couldn’t help but wonder.

“Hopefully with the entire federation looking for her she won’t say hidden for long”Rebecca said sceptically.
