Also try and find out who else on Ferenginar has access to large quantities of it and what prices they run, we need to know the competition.” Pausing he stopped and turned to Talok, “Suggestions Lieutenant Commander? Do we check out as good to go? I’d hate to short change the Ferengi at their own game.” Then he looked back to Talok, “When you are ready Lieutenant Commander, we can depart.” : : :  : : : Cmdr Black : :  : : Talok lead the team to the general market. From there, they wove in and out of small side streets leading away from the center of commerce, until they came to a very nondescript store. There was no particular markings or any flashy advertising. It was also away from the general foot traffic. The only marking was the standard Ferengi Alliance symbol, which indicated it was permitted to do business. : :  : : Talok knocked on the door to the shop. : :  : : The door opened to reveal an average looking Ferengi. He was fairly handsome by Ferengi standards, and decently fit looking. : :  : : “Mr. Talok, what a pleasant surprise! With the Federation Embassy shut down, I had not expected you. I see you brought along some colleagues. I am Dek, and this is my humble shop, Dek’s Material Resource Emporium. Please, come in,” said Dek. : :  : : “I trust that won’t be a charge for us to enter, Mr. Dek?” said Talok. : :  : : “Not at all, not at all! I presume that your unannounced visit that you have something significant value to trade and I rather not discuss it in the open,” said Dek. : :  : : Talok indicated to the rest of the away team to enter, and then made his brief introductions of the rest of the away team to Dek. : :  : : “Ensign, if you would kindly hand Mr. Dek our manifests from both vessels, please,” said Talok. :  : Ben extended his hand, offering the manifests. :  : : Dek accepted the manifests, and began reading them through. “Mr. Talok… This is… This is rather excessive, five times what I usually deal with. Surely you don’t expect that I have the funds to pay all of this immediately?” : :  : : “Logically, no. However, I know you are a resourceful person,” said Dek. : :  : : “Flattery from a Vulcan… Won’t get you a discount, Mr. Talok,” replied Dek. : :  : : GM :  : Ben began to see either they were selling to multiple buyers, or Talok had some game with this Ferengi. :  : -Ensign Ben Wylde : “I’m sure that we can come to an arrangement that is going to be mutually profitable” Mason said, taking a moment to look around the room as if he wasn’t really paying attention to the conversation before looking back to the Ferengi and Talok. “Mr Talok informs me you are a merchant of some impressive reputation among those that know you, as well as resourceful. Are you capable of handling the whole shipment, Mr Dek?” : Cmdr Black XO

“That depends, Commander. I have the resources to buy only one third of your shipment right now. As for the remaining parts of your shipment, it may take awhile, unless Mr. Talok is willing to take a 20% negotiation fee to for a rushed exchange,” said Dek.
Talok raised an eyebrow. “That, Mr. Dek, is robbery,” stated Talok.
“Unless… you might be interested in exchanging a portion of your shipment for something else?” asked Dek.
“5% commission with your name in letters of credit,” stated Talok.
“10%, letters of credit are an extremely tedious process, Mr. Talok,” said Dek.
“7%, otherwise we can find a buyer for the remaining portions of the shipment, Mr. Dek,” said Talok, “And continued assurance of future Federation opportunities.”
Dek sighed. “You drive a hard bargain, Mr. Talok. Alright. Where should I send the initial 250 bars to?”
Talok handed him a PADD with details. “Please have the letters of credit ready by tomorrow, Mr. Dek.”
“A pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Talok. I look forward to our future exchange. A word of caution, Mr. Talok, Ferenginar isn’t as safe as your previous visits. I would hate to see anything happen to you and any future business opportunities.”
Talok looked at the Commander. “Our business has been concluded, though we need to reach the Great Market to beam up.”
Talok lead the away team to the market, where the away team could beam up. “Commander, the initial funds should be sufficient for starting the investigation once Mr. Dek beams it aboard. As for the remaining, please let me know if you have any issues with the letters of credit, I am certain I can work something out.”

Mason looked at Talok with a slight grin, “Expecting trouble with those letters of credit Talok? Your friend seemed a little too confident.”

“With Ferengi, it is always a trust but verify, situation, Commander. However, Mr. Dek would not wish to attempt to cheat me unless he wishes to lose out on substantial profits in the future. Our transactions have been modestly fair… Though he did try to cheat me at our earliest transactions, which he discovered that he lost more than several clients as a result as my significant penality that I influenced. On top of not seeing me for several months, resulting his profits dropping considerably for a few months. Sufficient to say, he learned his lesson. You humans have a tale about a poisonous insect who wants to cross a body of water on the back of another animal. When the animal initially refused for fear of being poisoned and dying, the insect reasoned to the animal that they would both die if the insect performed such an action while they crossed the body of water. When crossing the river, the insect attacked the animal anyway. The animal confused, asked why to the insect. The insect merely replied it was merely in its nature… And both died through drowning. Thus, while Mr. Dek has learned his lesson, it is not to say it not his nature not to try to cheat me,” said Talok, “I would more accurately describe that Mr. Dek is highly motivated rather than confident.”
