After completing his late breakfast at 6 Forward, Adrian made his way back up to Deck 4 to Sickbay. His gaze scanned Sickbay as he entered, taking in the present staff and their movements to judge what was going on.There were currently no patients and it appeared the staff were doing equipment and inventory checks to prepare for departure. That coordinated with the message from Ops this morning.
Nodding to the techs, nurses and doctors in sickbay currently he looked for the CMO. Not seeing Dr. Izei right away, Adrian headed toward the CMO office at the back of Sickbay.
Reaching the CMO’s office he reached up and pressed the button to signal his presence.
Dr. Adrian Sorel
The current CMO of the Aasimov had a reputation, and not a particularly flattering one. He was known for being brash, unpersonable. He didn’t like being around people anymore. Not since before he came to Aasimov, several months ago, just before their most recent mission.
When the chime rang, he pressed a button to allow the door to open. He was a young man, with black eyes, though one of his eyes had silver flecks - the telltale sign of a prosthetic. When he’d arrived on Aasimov those months ago, he’d still had implants - the side of his head, up his right arm and leg. He’d lost his telepathy then. A lengthy brain surgery had returned it, some time ago.
Those were gone now, but the process of removing them had discovered damage incompatible with the life of the limbs. Now he had a prosthetic arm and leg, too. His dark brown hair was somewhat messy, and he wore long sleeve shirts and white gloves.
“Doctor Sorel,” he said. He offered a small, reserved smile. “Sit, please.”
~ Izei, CMO
“Aye sir.” Adrian said as he sat in one of the seats in front of the CMO’s desk. He had been going to ask his superior if his final Medical exam marks had come in, perhaps they had. He decided to wait to see what the other doctor said before asking.
Dr. Adrian Sorel
“Your final medical exam came in.” The Betazoid doctor could feel his nervousness. No need to keep him waiting. “You passed, Doctor Sorel. You are no longer a resident, but a full doctor.”
~ Izei, CMO
Adrian blinked and didn’t say anything for a moment. Illogical for either the nervousness before or the feeling of elation after. He knew he would pass, it was only logical after all his hard work and studying.
He reined in his inappropriate feelings and managed a nod. “ Excellent. I appreciate your assistance in my training the last three years, Dr. Izei. I would not have done as well without your assistance.”
~Dr. Adrian Sorel
“Thank doctor… Reilly I think it was,” Aasrel said uncomfortably. “I was only here for the end of it. Any time you think you need a second pair of eyes, don’t hesitate. I’d rather correct work than anything else.”
~ Izei, CMO
Adrian nodded his acknowledgment, then asked. “I received a message on my console this morning that we will be leaving space dock soon. Do we have orders? If I am allowed to ask, sir.” He qualified quickly.
~Dr. Adrian Sorel
“Not yet, but keep at the ready. Once we leave space dock, the Captain should give us our next mission.” Aasrel said. He sighed a long sigh. “Hope for everybody’s sake it’s easier than our last one.”
~ Izei, CMO
“Indeed, sir. Aye, I will be ready. Shall I go out and assist the staff with preparing for departure, sir?”
~Dr. Adrian Sorel
Aasrel nodded, “Yes, please. Any questions, there are plenty of qualified staff to help you out.”
~ Izei, CMO
Adrian nodded again, “Aye sir.” He rose and made his way out of the office and headed out to see where he could offer his help.
