After going through some status report, Shara made her way down to the Lounge. She wondered how their new CSO was faring with the Captain, but ha a feeling he’d be doing just fine.

Stepping into the Lounge, Shara grabbed a glass of cold water and a coffee before finding a free table. She nodded to a few people as she passed by and took a seat. Legs crossed at the knee, she leaned back in her chair and let herself contemplate the stars, though she was still aware of what was happening around her.

Varen moved into the lounge having finished is meeting with the Captain. Things were off to a great start, the ship seemed to be crewed by very capable and friendly people. He spotted the XO gave a nod and went to a replicator to get himself some Tea and then moved over to where Shara sat with a confident stride.

“Mind if I join you commander?” he said more out of habit since she was how he was meeting her to begin with.

“About time,” she deadpanned, though there was a tiny glimmer in her foggy. “I decided to wait to grab food. Wasn’t sure what I wanted to begin with, so decided that coffee”-she lifted her mug-“was a good first step. So grab a chair. How did the meeting with the Captain go?”

Thought of food caused him to realize how hungry he was though he did not show it. He took a seat across from her setting he tea down to his right. “It was enlightening” he noted. “She and I have more in common that I was aware. ” he said and took a sip off his tea. “So does the ship have a cook or do we fend for ourselves?”

“There is a kitchen behind the bar with a full menu, but there are a couple replicators as well. I usually do the replicator because I’m busy and I’m quite partial to the tomato soup and grilled cheese,” Shara said with a smile. “But help yourself as you will.”

Varen smiled stood replicated a salad and sat back down. “I’m fairly famished have not eat much today” he said stirring his salad with his fork. “I must say though I have never had tomato soup and grilled cheese”

“Oh, you don’t know what you’re missing,” Shara said before grabbing her own food.

He looked around the room taking it all in. “What is it that you like about it?”

It was a simple question but the answer was so much more complex. And personal. Not that she wouldn’t share, but it wasn’t her strength to offer up a lot of personal details. This of course was something she had been working on improving, not just because it helped her interactions with others, but because Shara had chosen to embrace life and be seen. Being seen meant she couldn’t hide behind a facade.

She took one half of the grilled cheese (cut into two triangles) and dipped the corner into her soup. She held it up to show him before she bit off that corner. “My mother taught me to eat it this way. It reminds me of her,” she said with a soft smile.

Varen smiled, “That is most interesting, I once had a “French Dip?” he said struggling to remember the name. “It was most interesting though I tend to not eat a lot of meat.” he finished taking a bite of his salad. He missed his home for sure there were so many delacies

“So what other activities are there on board?”
