A devious smile crept across Sara’s face as she saw her request was approved. She gently tapped her combadge =/\=Commander Calloway, report to the Capatain’s ready room as soon as possible.=/\= She was finding it hard to contain her emotions so she stood and put her back to the door, staring out the window into space. She put on her best stoic Captain.

Form her place in Secure Comms, Shara tapped her commbadge. =/\=On my way.=/\= A few minutes later, the chime rang.

“Enter.” Sara said from the other side of the door.

Stepping in, Shara gave Sara a curious look. “What’s up, boss?”

“Take a seat, Commander.” Sara didn’t turn to look at Shara. “We need to talk.”

Well that boded well. Shara slipped around one of the chairs and sat, crossing a leg over the other knee.

Sara sighed heavily. “Commander, due to the rechristening and retasking of the Asimov, fleet command believed that some changes needed to be made. There have been some shake ups in staffing. Mwezi is no longer my XO. A lot of things are changing. I was ordered to select new personnel. And I have.” She turned. “Commander Calloway as of this moment you have new orders. You are to report to the XO’s office, USS Asimov.” Her face cracked into a smile. “Congratulations, Shara.”

Both brows rose at the same time as she crossed her arms. “You have a really terrible sense of humour, Sara.” Shara was not amused in the least and it was the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard. And that was in a lifetime full of very ridiculous and outrageous moments.

Sara quirked an eyebrow. “The joke… may be bad.” She yielded as she sat down behind her desk. “But intelligence tried handing me all these dossiers for people I don’t know, and nobody I know can vouch for them. The joke may be bad, but after my request got approved? Well I’m in a damn fine mood for once.”

There were exactly three people who could surprise Shara Elaine Calloway: her second daughter, her late husband, and her current husband. But here was Sara Kiernan causing Shara to actually drop her jaw. The lack of a joke was all too apparent. “You have to be effin’ kidding me?! What makes you think I’d agree to that?” And what nutcase at Command actually thought this was not only a good idea, but the ideal one.

“Maybe you can at least understand that I’d rather promote someone I trust than bring in some intelligence staffer I’ve never met before.” Sara offered first, thinking Shara might sympathize with the thought process. “So yes. I submitted a request to Command. After I’d looked at all the files and all the possibilities, I explained to my superiors that I feel you have the requisite experience and already have some connection to the ship and crew. And that I would never doubt for a second your ability or willingness to get the job done. They took a few days to think it over and they agree… and I think you will too. Because you’d rather try something new than stay where you are and watch this ship go to hell.”
