One of the things most people, especially those who tried to fight him, didn’t realize was that Micah Pikelsimer was exceptionally quick. While the word ‘threshold’ was still hanging in the air, Micah had Shara off the ground and thrown over his flesh and blood shoulder. “Yeah… sumthin’ like that.” he said as he laughed their way inside.

“The pillar of romance,” Shara said between laughs as he carried her into the house.

Once inside, he set Shara on the floor and kissed her again. Off in the distance, thunder sounded and Micah grinned. “Ohhhhh… thunderstorm. How about we don’t unpack and go up to the tub, get it filled with hot water and bubbles, and drop the wall and watch it roll in?”

Micah

She pointed a finger at him. “Now that sounds great!” Shara moved swiftly with her long legs, sweeping up the stairs into the open bedroom and right into the large bathroom. “How much time before the kids get here?” she said, turning the bath on to fill.

Micah followed her with his eyes as well as his feet and said “Supposed to be in about three or four hours. That could be pushed back till tomorrow morning, if ya want a night with just us. I can get them set up in the Waldorf Hotel on Station One. Suites. The manager owes me a few dozen favors.” he said with a grin.

Micah

It wasn’t like they hadn’t indulged themselves already in the way into the system, but Shara eyed him with a hunger that surprised him. She pulled off her shirt and stepped closer. “You, me and the storm will do for now, but I miss my girls.” Even if their arrival brought complications, she was desperate to wrap her arms around them and remember that they were real and so was she. She didn’t want to wait till tomorrow, but since they didn’t have to go get food, she was happy to find ways to fill their time. Shara leaned in to kiss him.

He kissed her back and said “Then your girls you will have. Get the bath set up, I’ll make some calls.” He grinned at her and then trotted back downstairs.

Shara hummed to herself as she added the bubblebath and stripped. Sliding into the hot water, the sky lit up followed by a rumble. She lowered the window and folded her arms on the edge of the large tub and hummed to herself as she watched rain douse the ground, cleansing it of the past days. If only it was so easy for Humans.

A naked Micah walked into the bathroom and stared out at the expanse of forest and breathed in the air coming into the bathroom through the opening where the transparent wall usually was. His skin was a tapestry of a life hard lived and monumental sacrifices made for the good of those who would never know his name or what he had done to keep the wolves of the galaxy from their doors. Dark clouds covered the mountains far across the vista, and rolled slowly towards them. He stepped into the water and sat down opposite his wife. “We have three hours. The storm is gonna be here in about twenty minutes. And you look more beautiful every time I look at ya.” he said and smiled at her. Unlike his normal lecherous smile, this one was warm… tender… loving.

Micah

Her foggy blue eyes were backlit as she back at him for several long moments. No words were needed. “You know what food I’ve been wanting lately? Grilled cheese and tomato soup. Not sure if we have the stuff for it or can wing it, but it’s good food when you want something comforting.” Her mouth slipped into an actual smile as she remembered that late night in the Officer’s Mess on the Manhattan when they had sought food after somehow breaking his replicator. When she thought back, Shara suspected that the first moment she fell for him was that moment when he commented his approval of her dipping the sandwich into the soup and found out that both their mother’s had taught them that. The second was probably sleeping beside him that same night, nightmares and all, and feeling safer than she had in decades. It was then she probably fell in love with him, but as he pointed out she took her sweet time in their whirlwind romance to realize her feelings.

His eyes flashed and he grinned. “Oh, I’m sure I could whip us up somethin’. But first…” and he slid over next to her and put an arm around her. His metal arm raised up and the lights dimmed to almost nothing. “I really wanna see this.” and he pointed to the approaching storm. Outside, the wind was picking up dropping in temperature quickly. The trees began to move and the smell of storm came in on the wind. A few minutes later, the first of the rain began and soon the thunder and lightning joined it. Micah pulled her close as the storm began in earnest. Loud crashes of thunder and spectacular bolts of lightning created a cacophony of light and sound and the wind blew droplets of rain into the bathroom through the open wall. Micah smiled and closed his eyes, leaning his head back.
