Sara stormed into her own office, fuming at everything that had transpired. She couldn’t possibly let it stand. She had called all of the Intel staff to her ready room to receive the bad news.

A few minutes later Blue approached the door and it slid open. One look at Kiernan and his face became concerned. “What’s happened?” he asked flatly, standing in front of Kiernan’s desk.

The door opened at that moment and FedSec Agent Pikelsimer walked in. Like Blue, he assessed the mood in the room in a second and then simply moved to the side and leaned up against the bulkhead, crossing his one flesh and bone and one metal arm across his chest. He looked at Blue and then Kiernan and took a deep breath. Whatever had happened, it was bad.

Shara showed up a few moments later, having already been on her way up to see Kiernan. She slipped into the office and was not terribly surprised to see Micah and Leroy there. Shara cast a look to Strickland and then to Sara. Well, this wasn’t what she expected, but then again, none of this whole situation had been. “Captain,” Shara said with a respectful nod.

“Now that everyone is here…” Sara closed her eyes and inhaled deeply through her nose before looking at those gathered. “We have a problem. Gadi became injured. In the course of treating her injuries, Izei found a blood transfusion was needed. The only eligible donor was found and brought in. A transfusion was done. The new blood in concert with some El Aurian ancestry seemed to allow her to heal almost instantly. During the course of investigating how that was possible… the donor was augmented. And he ran off as soon as the transfusion was done, before the fact he’s augmented came to light. Shuttles are on lockdown, his biometric data is being hunted by transport operators, and security is checking onboard camera feeds. But. How much trouble are we in?”

Pikelsimer was the first to speak up. “Augmented? Augmented how, exactly. Because that’ll make a whole slew of difference. If this is just a gene-manipulation by rich parents, and if the subject didn’t know, then thats one thing. If it’s a more in-depth procedure, then that’s a whole other kettle of fish.”

“Augmented as in… the war that happened a few centuries ago.” Sara responded, at no point feeling better about the prospects.

Blue stared at her for a few moments and then said “Wai.... what?!?!?!“

Sara pulled up the biometric data, real and fake, on her computer and spun it around for everyone to see. “Check for yourselves. All the data was locked behind a command code wall that Gadi unlocked.

Shara stood there, eyes narrowed, but her brain was focused inwards. She crossed her arms, pulling relevant info to the forefront of her mind. “That… could track,” she said quietly. “El Aurians are exceptionally long lived. It’s entirely plausible this individual was around to be a part of Khan’s army.”

Pikelsimer said “Khan wasn’t the only Augment, but they all were bad news. Really bad news. And if there is one here…” and he cussed. Loudly. He looked at Sharah, and it was the first time she had seen anything close to fear in his eyes.

“Ok… so first to your original question, Captain.” Pikelsimer said. “About how much trouble we are in. Short answer? All of it. We’re in all the trouble. Let’s ignore for a moment that there is a walking talking, flesh and bone genocide machine somewhere around us. Let’s just look at the administrative and legal side. First, if this gets out, all of us are going to prison. Not just us in this room and Gadi. Every single person on this ship. Because the folks that deal with shit like this don’t play and they don’t take half-measures. They will lock us up and keep us in a hole until they are confident that we didn’t know a damn thing about this… and we won’t be able to convince them of that. Hell, even rumors about an Augment or Augment ship is met with torpedoes and phaser fire before they even start investigating if it’s credible.” He took a breath and exhaled slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut. He was silent a moment and then looked at the people in the room.

“There is no tolerance for Augment activity in the Federation. None. Zero. Nada. They don’t give two shits if it’s accidental or not… if this gets out Gadi will be dropped in a hole that no one can get her out of. The Doc as well. And you, Captain. And the three of us just ‘cause we know about it. And part of me kinda gets it. I dunno how much y’all really know about the Eugenics Wars and the Augments… but they are hands down the single biggest threat to not just to the Federation… but to life anywhere they happen to be. They are better than all of us. Faster, smarter, stronger, better trained… all of it. And if this one is El-Aurian and and Augment?” He looked at each person in the room individually before saying “We have no chance going up against them. None. And even if we did… these folks killed BILLIONS… with a capital ‘B’. And there weren’t thousands of’em. Just a few hundred. And six of ‘em almost destroyed all of humanity.”

Blue stared at the floor for a minute and then looked at up at the assembled staff. “You said we have no chance going up against them. So what if we don’t? What if we try and negotiate? They wouldn’t be here if they didn’t want or need something… right?’

Sara nodded. “As much as I hate to admit it, I think he’s right. If this man is what we he seems to be, taking this ship down shouldn’t be a challenge if that’s what he wants. He wanted Gadi alive, and may need or want something else. Something we have. That we may be uniquely positioned to give, being both Starfleet staff and not.”
