As she drew near one of the guards looked at her and took a step slightly closer to the Captain, but then continued looking around. If it was worth anything, the guards were good at their jobs.

But everybody slips.

And slip the Captain did. A spilled drink by one of rhe stalls caused her left foot to slide, keep sliding, and eventually go out from under her. The speed at which it happened was almost instant, but to the observers it seemed to take minutes for her to hit the deck hard. As she yelped once in a combination of pain and surprise, the guards turned and both rushed to aid her.

But Shara was faster than the guards. “Oh no! Are you okay?” she called out in a slightly higher pitched voice than usual as she reached out her hand to take the captain’s, hoping to help her up. The other hand slipped the tag deftly into her pocket as she crouched low to the deck over the woman.

Bethany saw the commotion and the fall and was up out of her seat and moving across the causeway toward the commotion. It was easy to blend in as people stood and watched, a few tried to help, and most wondered if they should. She was able to get fairly close to the guards, drop two nanite equipped tags to the ground and scurry them over to attach to the soles of the guards shoes. She positioned them so when the guards took a step the tags would be picked up. She could only hope that the spacing was correct and that no one else picked them up by accident. If not, there was always the fake brawl. Knock someone over and every one fall down and tag them then. Meanwhile she stood in the crowd and stretch up to see over everyone, blatantly curious about all the commotion.

The guards, in their attempts to both help and protect their charge from the sudden press of people, did exactly as they needed to and in moments the tags were adhered to the soles of their boots. The rag in the Captain’s pocket was in place as she took Shara’s hand. “Thanks. Yeah. Nothing hurt but my pride, I think.” and she half pulled- half let Shara pull her up off the deck. She looked down at her pants, now wet with the unidentified drink, and she cursed softly before looking at Shara with a shrug. “New pants, too. Someday it just doesn’t pay to go shopping.”

Technically they had thirty seconds before the transporter tags auto-triggered and beamed their targets to the Pelican’s brig. But thirty seconds was too long. ‘Tanis’ gave the captain a sympathetic nod. “Always such a pain in the ass when that happens. But I’m glad you’re alright.” ‘Tanis’ noticed the people who had gather around, checking to see if everything was alright. It allowed her to take them in and she leaned in say softly to the captain. “I wish I was a half step closer to stop you from falling. Darn vultures around here love a good scene.” This allowed her to look over the captain’s shoulder to Bethy and give the tiny twitch with her eye that told the COS that the tags were in place and t remote trigger them. They were running out of time.

Bethany pocketed her micro PaDD. She rubbed her nose like it itched at Tanis and her hand still inside her pocket pressed the button to activate the tags.

On the Pelican the codes for the tags lit up in the transporter room and the chief locked onto the signals and energized immediately. The security officer waiting beside him tapped his badge, =/\=Ridad to Brig. Prepare for incoming ‘guests’. =/\=

=/\=Aye Lt. We’ll activate the force fields as soon as transport is complete.=/\=

There was a few seconds, and then suddenly guards and target dissolved into a swirl of sparkling lights. The crowd looked around and then shrugged to one another before walking on, continuing their business… illicit or otherwise.

On the Asimov, forcefields snapped into place as three figures- one in one cell and two in another- appeared in the brig.
