Shara nodded approvingly. “Let’s run it, shall we? And you have the tags?”
Emma pulled a handful of tags out of a pocket and gave half to Shara.
She had visualized it one way but she was sure her counterpart might be able to offer other ideas too. They just had to agree on which way to go. “Our dear captain will be shopping. At least two bodyguards, and all three will likely be our level combat wise. All we want to do is get the transporter tags on them and then skedaddle. But do you want to try to surprise them, or maybe one of us creates a distraction while the other intercepts from another direction. That person would then be the distraction and the other can finish tagging if needed. Just a couple options. There are others I’m sure.”
~Shara Calloway, CIO
“I’m a decent pickpocket. Imagine you are as well. Just as easy to leave things as take. The tags can be set up to signal so many seconds after activated, or at a specific time. Guards are likely to notice me helping myself to unearned items. They will ignore me until I try it on the Captain. They grab me, you can come in and arrest me. Shake hands and tag them. We walk away and 10 seconds to 5 minutes later they get transported away. We can also activate remotely.” She pulled the remote out if her pocket. “How do you want to run it?”
Emma
Shara nodded as she thought through the plan. “I like it. I can play off-duty security and you are a known irritant. I can jump in and be all apologetic to the captain. If they don’t quite buy it, you can always up the ante a little but we need to play that line carefully.” Ideally, there’d be no confrontation, but the tags were tags and all they needed were very brief moments to make their plan work. I’m going as Tanis Costa, playful, but serious about work. What your cover?”
~Shara/Elaine/Tanis
“Emma, street urchin, mousey, plain. Life is unfair and I do what I have to. No last name, no family, so what’s the point?” Bethany shrugged. “I’ll tag the guards before I move into the crowd to get noticed. I’ll try to put two tags on the captain, but you should be able to get her and the guards if I miss.” She adjusted the bag slightly, “If you get into trouble you can use one of the tags on yourself.”
“You do the same,” Shara said as she nodded. It was a solid plan with room for adapation.
Bethany nodded to the offi er at the airlock who opened the door and closed it up right behind them. Emma headed off, blending into the crowd easily. She made her way towards the shopping promenade. It didn’t take long to spot the guards.
Bethant/Emma
‘Tanis’ took in the market area, moving along at a relaxed pace from ‘Emma’, simply wanting to enjoy a little downtime from work. Hands in her trenchcoat, she took in the stalls and people and caught their quarry out of the corner of her eye. She appeared to ignore them as she wandered farther.
~’Tanis Costa’
Their target was walking through the stalls and carrying a medium sized bag into which she dropped various purchased items as she shopped. To their credit, her guards were very observant and not prone to risk. Passersby were subtly steered away from the Captain (and some not so subtly), giving her a good three meters of clear space around her.
GM
Emma lazily made her way through the promenade, watching the captain and guard every so often. They were good. Very good. Time for a change of plans. Bethany and Shara had agreed if they need to switch plans one of them would find a small cafe or such to sit down and wait. Somewhere on the main thoroughfare that was easy to see. Bethany found such a place and headed towards it. As she did she dropped a few little ‘friends’ along the base of the wall. Tiny little nano drones, carrying the transponder tags. They were small and looked more like discarded dust and debris that was so common on stations. She let several fall in various locations. She arrived at the cafe, sat, and waited for the waitress to leave with her order. She pulled out a PaDD that’s screen was modified to not allow anyone but the person directly viewing to see the screen. She looked like she was reading.
In fact she was connected to the small drones, and as the guards passed by she was moving them to attach to the underside of their shoes’ arches on the sole. It was a hit or miss type thing. Too far away, not fast enough, the guards changed direction and she had to chose a new spot. Bethany was patient. She also didn’t make the mistake of trying to tag the captain and always approached from behind them.
Emma
Tanis was meandering through the market and noticed Emma ordering at a cafe. Well then, Plan B it was then. Hands in the pockets of her trenchcoat, she discreetly kept an eye on their quarry and was aiming to cross paths with them. It would likely take both her and her Emma to make this work but she was confident in each of their ability to improvise.
She allowed her path to draw closer to the captain but still within the boundary the guards seemed to be carving around their charge.
