Sometimes, when he had some free time, Mwezi enjoyed a little reading. In particular, he was interested in the differences and similarities between his Timeline and this one. The people who had trained him on his cover identity had described this continuity as the Prime Timeline, and it made sense. The version of history he remembered diverged from this one with a time travel incident, making his world a divergent timeline. One of the things he was currently curious about was the history in the decades following the time his counterpart was alive (since of course, there was an alternate version of himself who hadn’t served in Starfleet at all!). The very piece of technology which had brought them here had been successfully developed with major contributions from himself and Kula, while Shilo seemed to be a footnote in the history books as their romantic partner. At least that detail was consistent in multiple timelines!

Of course, there was the detail that the InTar wasn’t even viable outside of GOK Alliance territory, which made him chuckle at how big of a deal-maker the Federation had made the sharing of the technology in his universe to Galdor’s joining. He let out a quiet sigh, opening up another book. A memoir of sorts, by an individual named Morgan Riker.

The following is a collection of excerpts from the Research Journal of Lt. Morgan Riker, a historical specialist working at the Interplanetary Records Office. Lt. Riker was assigned to compile data from a group of scientists, medical experts, historians, and other researchers who were allowed extensive access to the people and libraries of the GOK-Alliance in 2293. Riker was somewhat verbose in their Journal, treating it more like a collection of their thoughts than a rigorous piece of scientific data entry. Their granddaughter, Hailey Riker, as well as the descendants and still living of the other individuals featured in the journal have given permission for these excerpts to be made publicly available.

Sunday, June 4
I’ve just arrived at my new… home, I guess? I don’t know how long I’m going to be working here, but I’m excited to get started. I was just a kid when the first Galdori Ambassador came to Earth, and now here I am, orbiting around their planet in a space station. They’re a little wary to allow large groups of humans onto the surface, but they have a very well-built system of space stations that feel homey and not too mechanical (I can’t even hear the engine!) so it’s not too bad. I’m just settling in today, but I’m going to meet the rest of the team tomorrow.

My team is incredible. They’re all just as excited as I am about this whole project, and we’ve also been assigned partners and assistants from Galdor, Okinos, and Kalari. First there’s me. I’m a data management specialist, specifically in terms of historical data. I’m really good at compiling information and picking out what the important bits are. My Assitant/Partner is Sonano, an Okinosian historian-

Mwezi recognized the name. Sonano. They had been part of the exchange program! It was nice to know they’d gotten up to some interesting things in the Prime Timeline as well. Helping Federation scientists learn more about the GOK Alliance was a high thing to aspire to. With a start, Mwezi realized something. This Sonano would still be alive! It had only been a century, Sonano had been in their early 50s when he knew them in the 2260s. If they’d spent a little time in hibernation… He made a note to seek them out as soon as the mission was over.
