Sara sat in her new ready room on the Broken Dawn. She considered everything that had transpired to bring this ship to them. =/\=Agent Blue, report to my ready room immediately.=/\= It was not a question or a request, it was not at his convenience. Sara was tired beyond belief, and it was past time they were on the same page.

-CO

It was not necessarily immediately, but it was within six or seven minutes that the chime on the ready room door chirped.

Agent Blue walked in and looked at the CO. “Yes, Captain? What can I do for you?” he asked easily.

GM

Sara’s fingers rapped on her desk. “This is a nice ship. I’m told we have you to thank for arranging it. The Admiral did say something… she said something that implied very much that the manner of the acquisition of this new ship was a set-up. A test. Strickland, you and I need to understand each other. If you leave me out of the loop, you’re increasing the risk to all of us. we may be well outside my pay grade of intel, I don’t care. If things go south, and it was preventable with a little information, I don’t care if I actually go to prison, I will put you out an airlock.”

-CO

Blue’s eyebrows furrowed together and he said “Huh? I’m not sure what you mean, Captain. Yes, I made arrangements for us to switch ships… but this? This wasn’t me. And nowhere in any plan I had did it involve you selling the Asimov. I’ve predicted a lot of things in my ti.e… that was a surprise, for certain.”

“God Intel people exhaust me.” She pinched the bridge of her nose. “Okay. So what was supposed to happen and why did none of it involve telling me you had plans for my ship?”

-CO

Blue sighed heavily and said “I didn’t say anything because I didn’t know anything. And as I have said from jump, we are not sharing anything that we don’t have to to ensure that we have the biggest shot at success that we can. Again… we don’t know how much this group has infiltrated the Fleet. So… we hold things back. In this instance, I was looking at us utilizing another vessel temporarily… I never intended Command to switch you to… to… to this” and he gestured around. “I mean hell… you’ve just almost tripled the available size of your crew with this! I didn’t do that! We have to run this thing on a skeleton crew now! That’s not a headache I really wanted right now, you know?”

GM

Sara briefly rested her head on her new desk. As she lifted it up, she sighed heavily. “So what we have here is nobody talking to anybody, and somehow that played out in us getting all this.” She gestured around to the ship. “Okay. So you made one plan. Command made some changes and didn’t tell you. Meanwhile I didn’t know about your plan or Command’s. And I was playing the part of the Pirate Captain with absolute commitment. Like I’m meant to. And the move to make was take the money and drop the heat on our tail so I was prepared to sell the ship anyway. Do you want a drink, Strickland? It feels like a good time for one.”

-CO

“Only if it’s a triple… now is the time.” and he leaned back and closed his eyes. “What the hell are we gonna do now, Pirate Captain Kiernan?” he said more to the ceiling than to her specifically.

GM

She pulled out the same bottle of Saurian brandy she had sampled from with Shara not so long before. She filled two rocks glasses, pushing towards a quadruple. She slid one across the desk. “The way I see it we have a few days without Starfleet hunting us. We might be light on crew, but you have to admit that this ship was built for this kind of work. We’re going to keep going. This job needs to get done and we’re too far in to go back now. We have the right eyes on us and a little time. We have what we have we do what we can.” She sipped her drink.

Blue took the glass and drank a solid quarter of it without flinching. He looked at her and said “I know this sucks. But I agree… we have to go forward. Its the only way.” He took a drink and then said “Ok. Here is how I see this going. We make the next grab, and that will almost guarantee us an invite from the syndicate. We take the invite, and then you let them know that you got me on board. Hopefully, they take me for ‘debriefing’. After that, we play our cards right and I say I want to give you guys some work. You take a few jobs, do them well, and by then I am hoping I have enough to nail this group leadership down. That was the plan from the start, right? How about you and I agree to modify it a bit? If… and that is a pretty big if… if I can’t get what we need in a reasonable amount of time… we pull the plug, take out who we can, and go back. No asking Fleet, no running it up the chain. Me and you. We make the call. Together. What do you think?”

Blue (GM)

Sara thought for a long moment. This was a big if and a lot of trust to put in an agent she summoned to her office to yell at as the avatar for Intelligence as a branch. But a little trust would go a long way in this mission. “I’m in. You and me, if we decide it’s going to take too long and we’re just sitting ducks the whole time, we turn it into a smash and grab. Get what we can, go home, take the heat from on high, figure out the future as we go.”

-CO

“Done.” Blue said and raised his glass to Keirnan and said “To mutually assured cooperation and, if all goes to s#!t, mutual destruction.” and he laughed a dark, gallows laugh.
