The time was 1145hrs and the sound of Evanescence a 20th/21st century rock band could be heard ringing out of the Chief Science Officer quarters. As the Asimov was a ship, fairly small in size it was evident that the music, that some would describe as a shriek, could be heard bellowing through the bulkheads and down the adjacent corridors.

Listening as the song ended, Potts, a tall but quirky looking man tapped the com-badge, located upon his freshly pressed blue uniform, and addressed the computer.

=^= Computer stop music =^= Fletcher spoke racing to stop the playlist before the next song began. Tripping over one of the many boxes littered among his compact quarters, Fletcher exited his quarters and began his journey across the desk. Approaching the turbo lift, the tall blue eyed male tapped the call button and awaited its arrival. Entering the lift as the doors swooshed open Potts stood central and directed the lift to proceed directly to the main bridge.

Stepping out of the lift, upon its arrival, the eager young lieutenant peered around the bridge with beady eyes looking for a human female by the name of Keirnon, she was the Asimov’s Commander and chief. Unable to locate her on the main bridge Potts travelled along the back of the bridge and up to the ready room. Halting at the door Fletcher straightened his uniform took a deep breath and tapped the call button and awaited permission to enter.

In the Captain’s ready room Sara sat and looked over the record for the new Chief Science Officer. This was a challenging time to be a new department head but there was no alternative. It had already been too long since anyone had held the post. As she reviewed Potts’ record, a chime rang out. She sighed and closed the file. There was a brief moment of silence before she called out “Enter!”
