Aasrel had never been the nervous type. He hadn’t been nervous when he attended Academy, nor during his previous ship boardings. He figured most new crew wanted to make a good impression. He simply didn’t care either way. Either he would make a good impression or he wouldn’t.

It mattered more to him now, for different reasons. The reactions people had to him annoyed him. He did everything he could to hide the parts of him that looked different. That reminded him of what he’d been through. Today was no different. The long sleeved uniform covered his arm, and he wore gloves to hide the evidence of his cybernetic implant on his arm and hand.

Otherwise, he seemed confident, perhaps overly so, as he stood in the corridors deciding how best to go about meeting the XO for his check-in. His promotion and transfer had been both sudden and unexpected. He felt prepared for it, if perhaps a tad inexperienced. The only thing nerves served to do was make him perform worse. He decided to comm and see what the XO would prefer him do. He at least knew the XO’s name, he’d seen it on the transfer paperwork. =/\= Izei to Commander Mwezi. Mwezi was, at that moment, quietly sitting in his office, skimming reports from the various departments. He filtered out the ones that could be put off until later, set aside things that he thought would be best brought to the Captain’s attention, and placing in a third folder those which he thought were both urgent and minor enough to do himself. He glanced up at the sound of a communication and touched a button on the wide leather band he wore on his wrist to receive the statement of the communication. He reviewed his memories for the name, then glanced at one of the file names within the folder of things he needed to deal with himself. The transfer of a new CMO to the ship, an Aasrel Iezi. That must be this.
