“Of course,” Mwezi nodded slightly. “I would not dream of getting in the way of my fellow officers. It is the goal of any Executive Officer to…” he searched for the phrasing for a moment, “bring out the best in their ship’s crew, would you not say?”

He had no idea what the USS Voyager was or what its relevance to the conversation was. Sensing the conversation was beginning to draw to its end, he said nothing more, allowing Calloway the space to speak anything further.

Mwezi, XO

She gave a brief nod. “Yes. But in order to bring out the nest in your crew, you have to get to know them, know their strengths and weakness. You can read all the personnel files you want but the real work happens in the day-to-day and you can’t fake that. And you won’t have a lot of time for it. So… whatever you do, know that you’re starting behind the line here and playing catch up. How well that goes, depends on you.”

Mwezi thought they’d already covered that point, but he nodded in agreement. “I agree. I believe I will begin that process as soon as I leave your office today,” he declared.

Shara studied him for a moment and inwardly sighed. Ah well, she couldn’t beat people over the heads with points, nor could she make them understand. She only hoped he’d get it very, very soon. “I guess that’s all I’ve got then,” she said.

Commander Calloway, CIO

“Thank you for the.... advice,” Mwezi stood, nodding slightly to Calloway before standing and exiting her office.
