The computer chirped and the setting shifted, returning Laila back to just inside the entrance of the pub facing towards the bar at the back. The balcony with a few tables was up to the left with the staircase just off the entrance to the back rooms she and the covert Shara had exited the pub from into the alley. The same mix of patrons were drinking, playing pool and cards or being generally obnoxious.

Laila had hoped the simulation would return her to the alley so she could find a place to rest, instead she ended back up at the bar. She stood there for a few moments before she began to make her way past the patrons to the bar area. The first thing I need to do is prepare myself. she thought. I need a drink. As she approached the bar, she sat on a stool and said, “One glass of Romulan ale please and a shot of whiskey…neat.”

The same male bartender as before was there and he gave her a simple nod. At least on the holodeck, Romulan ale wasn’t illegal. He slid over the ale and then grabbed a bottle of nondescript whiskey (since she hadn’t specified) and with well practiced movements, poured the shot in front of her. “Fun combo…” he remarked.

Laila drank the whiskey, then said to the bartender, “Trust me, I have issues and I need it and maybe a little more after this too.” She grabbed the Romulan Ale, At least Romulan ale isn’t illegal in the holodeck program she thought as she took a sip and looked around. Her eyes went back to the bartender and said asked, “Have you seen a woman with very red curly hair and bright green eyes? I think she may be a regular here.”

Drying a glass, the bartender turned at the hip and set it on the shelf behind. “It’s possible there is a person that matches that description. Who’s asking?” he asked, leaning in a little.
