A flurry of events kept Shara from seeking out Laila right away but as soon as everything had settled down, she sought out the Operations officer unsure what sort of reception she’d receive.Outwardly she appeared fully in character with her harsh leather garments, but spying the young woman, Calloway simply pulled the chair back and slid in, folding her arms on the table. “How much do you hate me?” she said with a grin.

Eulailia was sipping on a cup of plain black coffee and studying the Universal Klingon Dictionary on her PaDD when Shara arrived. As the woman sat down, couldn’t help but look at her with a surprised and curious gaze.
When Shara asked her if she hated her, she shifted a little in her chair for a moment, then said, “Hate is not the word I would use.” The truth was Laila felt intimidated by Shara, but at the same time, she was intrigued by her and wanted to know more about the woman who had seemingly been through a battle in life and emerged with some scars. “I am actually glad you are here. We have an opportunity to talk one-to-one and I must admit I have so many questions.” She placed her PaDD face down on the table, then leaned forward. “Are you open to questions, Commander?”Dacascos, COO
Shara grinned. “I definitely am, though I can’t guarantee I can answer, but I’ll be up front if that’s the case. But I was more teasing you about the likely hangover you must have had, because mine wasn’t terribly fun and I’m no stranger to ‘shine. I feel like I should apologize for throwing you in the deep end like that. But perhaps my answering a few questions will make up for it?”

“Oh,” said Laila laughing and feeling silly. “No need for apologies. That was actually the most fun I have had in a while. I am so looking forward to joining the next sister circle with the next round of moonshine and “Never Have I”. I hope you, Gadi, and Martel don’t think less of me because I passed out. I was alert and aware one moment and the next thing I knew I woke up in my quarters, with the McMillan yelling through my door.” She took a sip of her coffee, smiled, and said, “However since you did not warn me about the potency of the moonshine…I am sure that you answering a few questions will make up for the horrendous hangover I got the next morning.”

There was a brief flash of something in her eyes at the mention of McMillan but Shara simply lifted her mug and sipped, sighing with a chuckle as she set down her mug. “Well, ask away m’dear. I assure you that the stuff you learned was only the tip of the iceberg. Part of the fun of having lived as long as I have and done all that I have. Stories I’ve got a’plenty.”

There it was. Laila felt it with Patrick and now with Shara. There was some kind of disassocition between these two. She wasn’t particularly interested in it at the moment but made a mental note to revisit it later with Shara. “Well let me first say I heard that you and Pikelsimer were married. So congratulations there…I guess.” She wasn’t too fond of the man and wasn’t looking forward to anymore encounters with him although she knew they were imminent. “I don’t want to seem like I am prying, but I gathered from our last meeting that there were some traumatic periods in your past. You don’t have to tell me about them if you don’t want to, but I don’t want to be the next McMillan in your eyes.”
A hint the Laila noticed there was friction there. “So first I wanted to apologize about that day in the conference room, during the mission briefing. You should know that I am committed to focusing on being more understanding than judging.”
She clasped her hands together in front of her forming a ball. “However, think I need to understand you better so I can successfully avoid judging you. So tell me one thing you absolutely hate more than anything?”
