“If you stay with me, Ryley, it won’t be in my bathroom. Though it’s not a bad place to start.” Bethany snickered, “All the way through.” She reached past him, grinning as the space between them disappeared for a moment, and then she stepped passed. She keyed open the opposite door. “No occupant. She’s run away with her husband.” She called for the lights. “Take your pick, but I’m under doctor’s orders to go to bed. Still debating if I should defy that order or not.”

He followed her in and made a quick mental check. Calloways quarters then? Maybe. “You know this is this first place save for the bridge and mess I’ve been apart from sickbay?” He asked as the lights came up.

Looking around he gave her another smirk. “Try it, see what happens.” He said.

Ryley
MD

“Oh....Ryley. That sounds like a dare. Was that a dare? Because I am sorely lacking in an ability to walk away from a dare.” Bethany checked one of the panels and found it empty and nodded to herself. “Well then tomorrow we can find you somewhere quiet and more comfortable than sickbay. Good night, Ryley.” She moved back toward the bathroom and glanced over her shoulder at him. “For tonight I’ll leave the door unlocked. Just in case ya get scared.”

Gadi, CoS

“Bed.” He said to her and gave her another prod with the cane as he had done the last time. “You mean there’s places with more comfortable sleeping apparatus than biobeds on this tin can? Pffft. I’ll believe that when I see it.”

Bethany danced out of the way of the cane. “Well I can think of a few, but I’ll leave you to do your own ‘research’. Though you are a bit focused on my going to bed. Why is that?” She laughed not expecting any answer that could be repeated.

He found the bed and lowered himself into a sitting position on it. “I’ll let you know if I find monsters under the bed.” He said as she left then added. “Goodnight Gadi.”

This hadn’t exactly gone as expected…though what he had been expecting when he had found her quarters empty and traced her to the mess hall then decided to wait for her to come back, he wasn’t sure. Not this, his mind told him. He glanced at the connecting doorway again and pulled his boots off. Transferring the hypo in his pocket and the laser scalpel from his boot to easy reach he stretched out onto the bed, still fully clothed and put his hands behind his head. Staring at the ceiling it didn’t take him long to drift into a light sleep, his last thought was what Calloway would say if he was here when she came back in the morning. He’d blame Bethany of course.

Ryley
MD

Bethany pressed the control to the door on her way back through. The evening has not gone anything like she’d expected. Of course she’d expected to quietly meditate for a few hours until she thought she could sleep. She picked the candle up off the floor and put it away on the shelf and then dropped her robe in a small pile on the end of her bed. She laid there, one arm folded behind her head, the other resting over her diaphragm feeling her breath move in and out. She could feel the slight lump of her disruptor under her pillow and knee without checking her knife was still under the mattress. Her last thought was that bantering with Ryley was more fun than she’d had in a long time.

Gadi, CoS

While she wasn’t residing in the space, Shara still had alerts in place because she used it as an office now and again, even though she technically had her own. Sometimes it was just nice to be somewhere else. So, following up on the alert that someone was in the quarters, she ID’d the person as Ryley and smirked. It didn’t require her intervention just now, but later she’d find out why.

And sure enough, early in the morning at 0530, she slipped out of her and Micah’s quarters and went to Deck 5. Entering in her access code, she slipped in with a thermos of coffee and two cups, humming. Int eh one-room quarters, she was intentionally making noise yes, but she wasn’t being harsh about it either. Instead, she just moved to the desk, setting down the coffee and activated the computer, checking her messages.
