Still clinging to the chair, using it almost like a walker she watched Gadi make her way o to the counter. “Too late.” With the bottles of water rolling her way she bent down to pick up the nearest one… and fell over. Again. Laying there for a moment she drummed her fingers against the deck, breaking out into a snicker, then sat up. She retrieved the bottles and tossed one into Calloway’s lap, then crawled over to sit next to her, back against the bulkhead. Hopefully that would stop the spinning.
“Yeah, sitting’s good. The floor is fomfy. Comfy, even.” Picking up her bottle she tried to open it. Turned it over, tried again. Got it that time, and drained half.

Shara couldn’t help but laugh. “Kids…” she said with a shake of her head, which was a mistake. It made her head spin. Then again, normally she was more mindful of how she moved. With focused attention, she opened her water and downed a bunch. “I’ll ‘ave ya know the night ma husband and I got married we spilt a whole jar of shine ‘tween us and somehow made it downstairs an’ back in one piece. Don’t ask me how, I don’ remember,” she said, before breaking into rolling laughs.

Bethany had opened her own bottle and was in the process of downing it, but stopped mid gulp, and swallowed hard. A grin coming across her face. “Wha???? Wait ..were ..were you twwwooo drunk an…got married???” She stumbled back over and plopped down on the floor. She has to hear this. “Spill momma.”
Bethany
Miranda had just been about to take another drink when she half choked and stopped, but managed not to get it anywhere. “Sounds like a Vegas wedding.” Vegas. Now that was a memorable place. She’d been there once or twice during the weekends at the Academy. Fun town.

The grin that plastered on her face was unlike anything she’s allowed her crewmates to see thus far. It was blissful, joyful even. “See, we met on my previousss assi’ment and we jus… hit it off. He’s close ta’ my age and ‘ad a ‘ard life too so we get each other. No messin’ around. Anyway, we ‘ave a fling and I tink dat’s all it’s gonna be, but den he offers to bring me out to his place on a planet fer R an R and… I couldn’ resist de offer of quiet, of bein’ aroun’ someone who saw my darkness and wasn’t afraid of it. So after only knowin’ dis man barely three months I went. And second night I was havin’ a rough go of it and he brings out de shine and we ‘ave dinner in bed. We drank till we passed out. Or so I tought in da mornin’. But I sneak downstairs for a glass of wadder wi’ one helluva hangover and see de compudder terminal and think I’ll check ma messages. Dere on de screen is a marriage certifffficate from de-” Shara braced herself to speak as clearly as she could under the circumstances-“Universal Harmony an’ Light-Bearers Church of de Everlastin’ Love an’ Harmonious Livin’ Church and Souvenir Store.”
“I freaked out an’ was a wreck till he drug it out of me and that’s when we found out dat yep, we are good an’ married. Legal and all. And given us, and our lives, we decide to just let it be and if it turns out ta be a bad idea by de end of ma leave, we’d get anulled or divorced.” She shrugged and then beamed. “Still married.”
