It was quiet in sickbay when the doors opened. The redhead still had her hair in a ponytail, face smudged a bit. She braced her left hand against the door frame. Accompanying her was the scent of smoke and of burned flesh. Staggering in a bit more, every step was a task and she was sweating by the time she made it to a spot she could sit. For the moment, she simply breathed and tried not to think about the pain in her leg. At least her wrist wasn’t that bad, though she cradled it under her breasts, trying to keep it protected.“Doc, you around,” she called out, her voice a little shakey, a little strained.
Martel, the idiot.
There was a noise from the second room of sickbay, like a grate being pushed back into place. Ryley appeared, dressed in dark jeans and a grey sweater. A red bandana tied around his neck just visible from where it vanished into the crew neck of the sweater. He was wiping his hands on a towel. Seeing Martel he put the towel down and used his hand to brace the bad leg, limping over to her without his cane.
“The hell happened to you?” He asked quickly assessing her where she sat.

MD“Stupidity and self-loathing,” she said. Her dark cargo pants were burned all along the right thigh, from almost to junction of her pelvis down to the medial head of her quadriceps. The fabric had caught flame and burned away, leaving nasty burns below. It was crusted and melted along the edges. There was another burn along her calf, and as he followed it down, a rectangular shaped burn in her footwear. It was like something hot had skidded against her or poured down her.
Her wrist appeared fine except it was starting to swell. And there were burns on her palms, not as bad but angry pink and. AS he moved her around she winced, hands trembling a little.
He frowned as he continued his assessment, but his touch was gentle.
“I was in the cargo bay, forging in my little makeshift workshop. When I was waiting for heats, I was doing a little training with a hanging heavy bag. And I guess I threw a punch wrong. Folded my wrist up or something from bad form. Threw another punch. Seemed okay, little off. Went back to my forge, grabbed my tongs to take out the billet and as soon as I lifted, my wrist felt like I’d been stabbed or shot. I lost control of the billet. It tumbled, hit me… went all down my leg.” She paused for a half second to swallow. “Landed on my foot. Hobbling here was fun.”

“That’s the sorta thing you can call and ask for someone to come to you for you know.” He seemed to consider. “I can do some surface repair on the burn to make it a little more comfortable but then you’re gunna have to lose the shoes and pants and move you to that bio bed for me to treat the rest properly. Then I’ll look at the wrist. Ok?”
He moved off from her then and using the various surfaces in sickbay for support. He was back within a few seconds with a few devices and a hypo. “You got any allergies or reactions to meds?” He asked.
