Against her better judgement, she opened her eyes and gazed up a him. “Moonshine. From my husband’s still back home. I’d introduce you to it, but I think ‘shine and I need a break from each other. And probably a much longer one that I’ve had in recent months.” A smirk tugged on the corner of her mouth. Yep, so far, no true regrets. Moonshine had a way of laying all the crap bare. What you did with it in the aftermath though was an entirely different conversation.

“I think ‘shine and you need an intervention. You should press assault charges.” He tapped away at the scan results. “Good news is I can probably save your vital organs. Bad news is I’m tempted to leave you with the headache as a lesson to you,”

He moved away across the bay and to a replicator.

“Oh, I’ve had a good lesson, don’t you worry. But in all fairness, I did the thing that was necessary for the success of our mission. Call it crew bonding time. You can thank me later,” Shara said, closing her eyes again. She was being honest, too. While it hadn’t been planned, it had helped in more than one way, including her own sense of well being. Sure, she felt like crap and she was still terrified of this mission going sideways as it most likely would but at least she hadn’t had to worry about sleep last night.
