Shara was careful at the same time as she had let loose and decided not to care about the consequences. Then of course, morning came, and with that the reminder about why she was supposed to be cautious with the shine. She seemed to have a strange need to keep learning that lesson. The problem with that? Well, Shara Calloway wasn’t twenty years old anymore, and while she could drink most Humans under the table on a bad night, and keep pace with Klingons on a good one, the next day would always remind her why it a terrible idea. The scowl on her face was no really needed to scare the juniors she encountered on her way to Sickbay. The whole song and dance in the Lounge that one night had been a necessary show to establish the rebel Calloway was. Who she had always been. With an added dangerous edge, of course. They assumed her being an Intelligence officer made her scary and it was the easiest cliché to play into. Her gambit had worked perfectly as the avoided glances and skirted movements told her quite clearly.
They just had no idea that the scowl was really the entire percussion section of a marching band sounding in her head.
Slipping into Sickbay, with the same ‘uniform’ of leather leggings and her rib-look-alike grey jacket, Shara just slipped up onto a biobed without a word and laid down on her side, her loose brown hair splaying over her face. It blocked out at least a little of the ungodly bright lights.

A few seconds later a loud rattling, rolling tray of instruments was pushed beside the biobed. Then a cane smashed down loudly ontop of it creating a sound like two cymbals being clashed together.
Did she startle? Yes, yes indeed. But more than that, Shara curled up slightly with a moan. “Must we?”
“And how are we feeling this morning? Bright and breezy full of get up and go?” Ryley boomed tilting slightly to get a better look it seemed. “To be honest it looks like your get up and go got up and went Calloway.”

“More like it went and died a terrible death. Given the high possibility of death on this mission I’m debating the merits of early surrender,” she murmured, rolling onto her back. “I’m too old for this sh!t.” And she was, and yet, she didn’t regret a second of it. It was needed, necessary even. And it accomplished more in that time than weeks of persona work and training could have. Because she felt bonded to these people now and in this game that meant everything. It’s what actually could keep you alive when all the odd say it’s impossible.
