Materializing on the transporter pad Nerira immediately felt at home - the subtle but distinct vibration of a warp core had always been a source of comfort for Nerira. It was something stable, something constant, something dependable, unlike so many other things in her life. she never felt quite right when it wasn’t there.
Stepping down from the transporter she thanked the operator this sure is going to take some getting used to, she thought, noticing the uniform and the weapon holstered near the officers waist.
Arriving on the bridge Nerira found the captain, which was quite easy as she was sitting in the captains chair. attempting to get the attention of the captain she broadcast her thoughts permission to come aboard?
When the captain did not turn to greet her, her face flushed as she remembered that not everyone was betazoid on a Starfleet ship.
I really am going to have to get used to this
Remembering that she needed to address the captain of a federation ship formally she asked “Permission to come aboard sir?”

Sara looked up and saw the new Chief Science Officer. Something about a new officer, just becoming a Chief of Sciences, made her briefly nostalgic. She smiled and rose from the command chair. “Permission granted, Lieutenant. Welcome to the Asimov.” She extended her hand. “I’m Captain Sara Kiernan.” Even after all this time, it was still fun to introduce herself that way. Though she certainly hoped no one knew.

“Thanks captain.” Nerira said, relaxing a little.
Smiling at the captain Nerira tapped her head reminding to remind her that she was still betazoid despite her trill spots, and could pick up on the thoughts of everyone on the bridge especially the non-telepathic crew.
“Captain, It’s been a while since I have done this, as you can probably tell, so can you tell me where I should report to to begin working?” she asked, A little embarrassed.

Sara flushed slightly, embarrassed at having her mind read. She quickly refocused to Nerira’s question. “You should report to Commander Enai, the first officer. You’ll probably find her in her office. She’ll brief you on your duties, the ship, where we’re headed. And then the science lab is on deck two. Make sure you have your Counseling and Medical clearances as well. You’ll find Lt McMillan on deck five and Dr Ryley on deck six.”

Sara sat down in the Captain’s chair again. “You’ll get the hang of things before you know it.”
