Shara had a temper, not two ways about it. But it was the slow simmering kind that would just explode… if she let it. Rarely had she ever though and she was glad for it. It conjured too many horrible memories of her adolescence and she had no intention of mimicking any of that.

And yet, there were so many thing wrong with how things in the conference room went down that she had needed time. And Micah seemed wise enough to give it to her. But the question then became what to do now. They had to confront the issues, sure, but they were going into a very dangerous mission and both needed to be at their best. Clearing the air would help with that, but there was a very equal possibility that she would come out worse for it. And so might their very new marriage.

As she approached the VIP quarters (what few guest spaces existed on this class of ship), Shara was still trying to figure out what to say to him now that the initial burst of anger had passed. Even as she reached up and pressed the chime, the weight of the situation hung heavily on her, weighing her down physically as much as emotionally.

As she reached for it, the door slid open and Micah, having changed out of his uniform and looking down to adjust the belt on his pants, nearly walked into her. “Oh, s#!+. honey!” he said in surprise. “Startled the hell outta me.” and he took a breath. “I was coming to see you. Wanna come in? Or maybe go somewhere you can beat the crap outta me?” he said with a smile, but there was a sincerity… a pain… in his eyes only the woman standing in front of him would ever be privy to.

Micah

Whatever anger might be still in her was doused immediately by his presence. Instead, a numbness took over and claimed her words. Shara shook her head slowly. What she ws saying no to, she wasn’t sure, but putting a hand on her shoulder, she turned her body sideways and slipped past him. the hand allowed her to brush along him but in such a way that it wasn’t an angry shove.

Stepping into the small space, she stood in the centre of the room and froze. What could she even say? And for the first time in a long time, Shara didn’t trust her own words.

Micah closed the door and went to the low table by the small cochd set a samll black pyramid on the table and tapped it. He th moved behind her. Hands settled on her shoulders and Micah whispered “Sha… I’ve already sent word to Faye about we’re doing. Not specifics, but she’ll get the gist. And I told Nadine in person just to ignore any news before I left. I couldn’t say that in front of anyone, though. Leroy doesn’t even know… and man would he be pissed.” He stepped around her and then said “So unload. Let me have it. And I agree I got it comin’.”

Micah

The news should have relieved her, but it didn’t. And there were all sort of things she could say, but hadn’t she already told two other people these things? It should have been Micah, and yet, she knew she couldn’t have been in the same room with him just then. Chin dropped slightly, her gaze was on his shirt as she periodically blinked. her lips moved, shifting shape to form sounds, but no words were uttered. She had spent time thinking over what to say to him but none of it seemed right. None of it made sense or encompass how she felt.

She gazed downwards for a ver long time (ages it felt to her) before she finally murmured a few precious words: “You should have warned me.”
