Shara shook her head. “I appreciate that bu Micah and I will sort our shit out when we’re ready to, and knowing how stubborn we both are? Not a damn minute before. But I gotta get to work too. Apparently we’re undertaking major covert operations here and someone went and made me Chief of Intelligence.” She shrugged. “But I asked for it, didn’t I?” She swallowed the last of the coffee.
“Thanks for the joe. Shall I keep the tumbler for now and bring it back clean, or leave it here?” she asked.

Bethany nodded, “Offer stands whenever. I’ll take care of the tumbler and have it ready for you again tomorrow.” Bethy took both and set them on the desk to clean. “Well I have to go see how good my tactical officers are. If you need anything from me or the dept just let me know.”

Shara patted the top of the tumbler and nodded, rising to her feet. “You got it.”
Moving to the door, Calloway turned and gazed to the COS intently for a moment. “Thanks. I don’t have friends. My work never really allowed for it, even if I was at times chummy with others at Intelligence. But either my friends were false ones I needed in order to do a job or they all died back on Tracken. The Voyager crew went it ways and I’m not much of a reunion person. So, for what it’s work, I appreciate what you’re trying to do for me here. Don’t take it personally if some days I bite your head off. I’m… a little off-kilter right now and just trying to figure this all out.” This being her entire life which seemed to have turned itself upside down and in circles in recent months and come out in the best case scenario. Shara still wasn’t sure how that had happened but she had lived long enough that she knew better than to question it too deeply.

Gadi nodded. It was a different kind of mission they were woven into. She did understand not trusting not having friends. It was her life too, but in this case her gut told her they all, every single one of them on that ship, were going to have to quickly and without reservation learn to do things differently. It would be hard, but nothing worth fighting for wasn’t. Gadi grinned, “I’m a tough. Ya can bite it off all ya want, I just grow another one.” With an internal clock that never failed her, she moved toward the door. “Coffee’s always on, and as long as you promise not to tell anyone I have such a blasphemest item, that blend comes in an unbelievable decaf if ya should need it.”
