Gadi considered a moment. “When considering the performance of the security department what are you happy with and what do you want to see improved?”

Gadi, CoS

“I wish I could answer that question,” Siadra replied honestly. “I have been here only a very short time and haven’t been able to observe the security department, or any department really. Not much anyway. I did get a glimpse when I arrived on the planet where the Asimov had crash-landed and from that I can say that they seem to do their duties very well. I’m sorry. I wish I could give you a better answer,” she continued, her voice and expression slightly apologetic.

Bethany shrugged in acceptance. “We shall find out soon enough then. I almost prefer your answer because it allows me to look at them with unbiased eyes and preconceived notions. It will work itself out quickly.”

“Good,” Siadra replied with a warm smile. “Is there anything else I can do for you? Anything else you’d like to talk about?”

Gadi shook her head. “Oh I spoke with the captain and I’m going to start running some cross department trainings. She said she was pleased with the performance of the crew with the last mission but felt maybe being more familiar with each other would have helped. I know you keep a busy schedule but you would like to be included in the actual trainings?”

Gadi, CoS

“Yes please,” Siadra replied with a nod and without hesitation. “The Asimov and her crew are small enough that I’m sure I’ll quickly get to know everyone on board anyway, but I think it would be very beneficial for me to be included in the actual trainings as well. As you know I’m still very new not only to this ship, but also to the position of First Officer. So any additional training sounds good to me,” she continued honestly.

“Once I get the logistics worked out and a program chosen I’ll send the information your way, Cmdr.” Bethany finished her drink and set the glass down. “That’s all I can think of at the moment, Cmdr.”

“That sounds good. Thank you Commander,” Siadra replied as she rose to her feet. “I hope you’ll settle in well on the Asimov and so you know: My door is always open. No matter what.”
