Micah smiled. He had stood in the hallway where he could hear if she tried to call anyone. She hadn’t. Good girl. he thought and then moved silently back to the front door as she walked out of the bathroom. “Not yet. At the ship. C’mon. Lets you and me go get a piano.” and he winked and led her back outside, to the car, and then drove her to the docking port.
Taking her through the restricted areas, they came to Vanessa, the modified Cardassian scout ship Micah so lovingly christened. As they approached, Micah tapped a few commands on a wrist band and the docking ramp opened. “Follow me. Beacon first, then call.” He led her into the open central area of the ship and opened a drawer. He pulled out a small object the size of a stamp and noted the numbers on the wrapper. He opened it, and pulled out a slip of silvery-liquidy looking something. Balancing it on his finger, he took her hand, rolled it over, and placed the slip on her skin where it stuck and began to glow softly, then faded. Micah nodded and tapped on a PaDD and handed it to her. “There’s your code. You have a communicator? Or want to use the ship’s system?”
Micah
“I could call them, but I left my handheld at the apartment. You were all so paranoid that I figured you’d prefer to handle the comm origin. Or is that just crazy talk?” Nadine said as she eyed the slip. Yep, today was just plain bizarre. She looked around the ship and yep, definitely slipped into a different reality. Maybe that was the easiest way to do this- just pretend she was in a different reality until it stopped feeling like she was in some holonovel.

Micah grinned and said “Oh child… you really don’t know how happy that makes me.” and he patted her shoulder and said “Follow me.”
She wasn’t exactly sure why, but that little comment of approval sounded like it was a big deal coming from this man. And it wasn’t just his appearance that made her think that.
He took her to the cockpit and had her sit in the co-pilot’s chair. He pressed some controls, and the comms activated. “There ya go. Just input their comms and you’ll be live, no delay… whether they pick up or not.” and he winked. As she started, he began to warm up Vanessa… a much less seductive process than it sounded.

Blowing out a breath, Nadine inputted the connection to her parent’s house in the neighbourhood of Ravenna in Seattle. She got a beep and chuckled. They were out. “Voice-to-text… Hey Mom, hey Dad, it’s Dina. It’s too much to explain right now, but after all this time I, well… I found my birth mother. I’m going to San Francisco to meet her. I’ll be gone a few days and I just wanted you to know so you wouldn’t worry too much. I’m staying at the uh… Brixton Hotel. It’s in downtown. I’ll call you when I get settled. But because I know you, especially you Mom, and I know how worried you’ll be I have an emergency transponder with me. If something is wrong, the code is…”-she picked up the cover-“Two three nine A dash w four one dash gee six nine zero eight three. Okay? But please try not to worry. You’ve always been there for me and I need you to bear this one other thing, okay? I love you both. You are everything to me. I just really need to do this. I love you both. Talk to you later.” Nadine ended the call and sat back, full of emotion. She knew it was still hurt them, even just a little bit, but they had promised to not get in the way of her search. A part of her wished they could meet Shara too, but she doubted that would ever happen.

Micah looked at her and said softly. “You ok?”
Nadine snorted. “What do you think? I mean, I’m not not okay, but of all the things I thought could ever happen today, this was not one of them. And I don’t want to hurt them but like I said before I always knew it would a little. I just don’t want them to ever think I wasn’t grateful. I’ve had a great life, and that’s because of them. But… it was that way because it startedelsewhere with someone else. Those are the facts and I can’t ignore them. Not if I want to been a whole person. You said she’s had a hole in her all these years, well, me too I think.”
He keyed the controls and Vanessa lifted off and moved smoothly through the hangar doors. =/\= Traffic Control, Julian nine-nine-seven-dash-zero. Request clearance for immediate departure. =/\= There was a pause and then =/\= Negative J9970. We have a full pattern. Wait time is two hours. =/\= Micah scowled at the dashboard. He then looked at Nadine and said “Well, I’m sure you have been wondering if I am who I say I am… here’s where you see it.” and he grinned.
“Creepy secret agent guy?” Nadine deadpanned.
Micah winked and smiled.
=/\= Control. J9970. This a priority FedSec request for immediate departure. Authorization code Delta.Gamma. Hotel. Golf. Seven. Seven. Eight. Seven. Three. Confirm and give me a departure vector. =/\= There was a three second pause and then a new voice said =/\= FedSec, Control. Acknowledged. Immediate departure vector one four eight, thirty degrees vertical. Confirm. =/\= =/\= Confirm. Thanks, y’all. MIghty kind of ya. =/\= and he looked at Nadine and grinned and said “Grab your britches. Here we go.”
He tapped the console and they shot out of the docking center like a bullet. In seconds, they were above the clouds. Micah chuckled. “Maaaan… they sure do HATE that.” and he cackled as he changed course to a piano and footlocker.

She had reached out a hand to brace herself as the vessel moved and Nadine couldn’t help but smirk. “Most people don’t. Try teaching a bunch of ten and eleven years olds and you tell me if they like learning there are exceptions to the rules.”
~Nadine
“Wouldn’t try and draw that comparison. Most Traffic Control operators don’t have the maturity of ten or eleven year olds.” he said without looking away from the window in front of them.
After a few minutes, he set the controls to auto and swiveled around to look at Nadine. “Ok… my name is Micah Pikelsimer. I am a FedSec agent. Technically, I’m one of fifty Special Agents In Charge. I met Sha… Shara… when I was called to the Delta Quadrant to assist in an operation by a certain ship’s Captain who I owe so many favors to it actually pisses me off. Anyway… Shara had her own reasons for being there. So thats how we met. Prior to FedSec, I was a detective, a cop. Prior to that, I was a Star Fleet officer. Prior to that, a Marine.” He rapped the metal arm. “Thats where I got this. If you wanna hear the story, I’ll tell you. But you will need a drink in hand. And those are are with Shara.”
