She had noticed the arm, of course, but like anyone brought up with manners, Nadine hadn’t brought it up. For a moment she hesitated, but not because of the limb. Could she do this? But could she live with herself if she didn’t? And the answer was likely not, and that answer was the one that truly mattered. “You’re really freaking me out, jut so you know. But… I have to do this. This might be my only chance and I can’t walk away from that. So, yeah’s let’s go.”
~Nadine
Micah grinned as they walked out, arm in metal arm, to the ground car. “I’m glad you’re freaked out.” he said matter-of-factly as they buckled in and Micah, without asking her, input her address into the navigation and the car drove off. “That means you’re smart. You should be freaked out. This is weird. And scary. And really weird again.” and he chuckled. “But guess what?” and he leaned over and whispered conspiratorially to her. “Its weird for all of us.” and he leaned back and smiled.
“Well, at least I’m not alone, right?” she said, breaking into a smirk despite her unease. He had found her at her workplace and given everything else, him knowing where she lived somehow was the least surprising bit of all of this.
A few minutes later they arrived at her home. Micah got out and, out of habit, visually scanned the surrounding area. He then looked at Nadine and said “Ok, let’s get that bag, shall we?” and he walked with her inside.

In a clean and landscaped medium -rise building that was all modern amenities with the facade of three centuries ago, Nadine led him up two flights of stairs (she didn’t take the lift unless she really needed to). She did it easily and wasn’t even breathless by the time they reached Suite 306.
Inside the modest-sized two-bedroom apartment, Nadine seemed to keep things well in order. Sure, there was a coffee cup sitting on the coffee table and a jacket piled on the bench in the entry way, but otherwise it was pretty tidy. The ‘messiest’ part in the open plan space was the round dining table that had piles of padds stacked. Probably her marking. But the rest of it was bright and cheery with bold splashes of a light teal, tangerine and lime green. But the rest was white or pale wood, giving it a crisp clean feel, but certainly not austere. Bold patterned rugs contrasted with soft floral drapes and cushions but the big furniture pieces were all solid neutrals. On the walls were various paintings of different sizes that were almost impressionistic in their seaside representation. Slightly different colour schemes but clearly with a similar enough style that it was likely done by the same artist.
Nadine slipped off her shoes casually and hung up her coat in the front closet, pulling down a suitcase from an upper shelf. “I’ll just be a few minutes. Won’t take me long to gather some stuff. There’s a guest bathroom just around the corner if you need it,” she said and slipped down a small hallway where the two bedrooms were.
Inside her pale blue and white toned bedroom, Nadine exhaled. Her mind was still whirling and she honestly felt kind of ill. She was doing this, wasn’t she? But this was good! This was what she had always wanted. The image of Shara was fixed in her mind and she smiled. Yeah, that was her mom alright. Popping into the ensuite bathroom, she grabbed toiletries and stuff them quickly into a bag.
Five minutes later, she reappeared, suitcase in hand. “Okay, good to go. We should call my parents. You got that code?”
~Nadine
Micah smiled. He had stood in the hallway where he could hear if she tried to call anyone. She hadn’t. Good girl. he thought and then moved silently back to the front door as she walked out of the bathroom. “Not yet. At the ship. C’mon. Lets you and me go get a piano.” and he winked and led her back outside, to the car, and then drove her to the docking port.
Taking her through the restricted areas, they came to Vanessa, the modified Cardassian scout ship Micah so lovingly christened. As they approached, Micah tapped a few commands on a wrist band and the docking ramp opened. “Follow me. Beacon first, then call.” He led her into the open central area of the ship and opened a drawer. He pulled out a small object the size of a stamp and noted the numbers on the wrapper. He opened it, and pulled out a slip of silvery-liquidy looking something. Balancing it on his finger, he took her hand, rolled it over, and placed the slip on her skin where it stuck and began to glow softly, then faded. Micah nodded and tapped on a PaDD and handed it to her. “There’s your code. You have a communicator? Or want to use the ship’s system?”
