Micah took a long moment and then said “She doesn’t know I’m here. And it’s Micah, not Michael. Gimme a sec, will you? I’ll be right back.” and he stood up and walked out and stood outside the window by the table Nadine was seated at.
She knew it! Nadine couldn’t explain it (like most of her hunches) but she wasn’t buying his name as being Micheal. Though it wasn’t far off, so what did she knew, right?
He pulled his communicator and called Shara. He waited as the connection was made.
Micah
Her stroll had been leisurely and after grabbing something to eat and more coffee, Shara was lounging on the sofa reading. The alert made her head pop up and she frowned for a moment. They hadn’t thought to discuss her answering calls, especially since precious few people knew exactly where she was right now. But on the off chance it was urgent, she moved over to Micah’s comm unit and opened the connection. “Go for Big Cabin,” she said, smirking to herself. If it was anyone who knew anything at all, they’d not be too confused.

“Sha…” Micah started off slowly…
“I love you. And I want to know if you want to talk to your daughter. I found her. And I’m looking at her right now. Even if the record hadn’t told me, I’d know. She looks like you. So you tell me what you want to do, and we’ll do it. She’s been lookin’ for ya Sha… since her twentieth birthday. She wants to know you. Ball’s in your court, hun.” and he fell silent.

Shara had to quickly reach out her hand to steady herself. Fingers gripped around her edge of the table she couldn’t quite catch her breath. No… no way. Just like that? How many years had she wondered? It was just like Faye all over again. Ships passing and waiting for the right moment. “Is… is she okay?” No that was the wrong question. “I mean, she wants to know me and I’m finally ready to. It was my name, right? It had to be. It was the only barrier, sealed being confidential files. She’d never have…” Tears were once again running down her face and Shara couldn’t help but inwardly laugh that she’d cried more in the last couple months than she probably had her entire life. Shara started laughing, if slightly bitterly. “Oh Gods, Pickle, I had a feelin’ you’d be turning my world upside down.”
Pacing as she talked, the movement helped calm her panic. “Okay. I mean, I have nothing to lose right? I just… I don’t if I could handle her being somehow… disappointed, ya know? In me?” But even as that thought flew out of her mouth a more pressing matter came to mind. “Micah!”
“What’s her name?” she asked, needing that one detail to solidify her first child into more than a figment and into a real person.
~Shara
Micah grinned and said “Nadine. Nadine Wells. Hang on, you can say hello.” and he muted the comm and walked back inside. He walked up to Nadine and held out the communicator to her. “The woman on the other end of this communicator is your birth mother. Her name is Shara Calloway. She’s also my wife. So be kind. I’m trusting you… don’t make me regret it.” and he unmuted the communicator and set it in front of Nadine. He then walked over and took a seat at the counter; far enough to give her some privacy… close enough to tell if the energy in the conversation went south.
