“Very well.” Sara nodded, doing rapid calculations in her mind. “Let’s bring him onboard and get this process underway. Commander Calloway, as the resident Intelligence expert, I’ll ask you to greet him and get a read on the situation.”

-Captain Sara Kiernan, CO

“Of course, Captain,” Calloway replied.

Hallsley looked around at each face and said “Ok. Last chance for questions. As soon as you walk outta here, you will have your public orders, and your other orders. Until you are clear of the station and Mr. Pikelsimer gives the all-clear, your public orders are your only orders. And no, don’t worry. Once you are clear you can tell your crew what is really going on. I made it clear… this is a strictly voluntary mission. Anyone not wanting to go can say so and I’ll make sure they are taken off the ship and transferred. No punishment, no marks against their record. They will be kept distant to minimize any leaks, but not going won’t be held against them at all.”

Enai shook her head and resigned herself to whatever was going to happen and the fact that between the way she arrived (was forced to arrive, really) on the Asimov and this mission her carrier change had not gone the way she had expected. It made her seriously question if she had made the right choice of if she shouldn’t had stayed a ship’s counsellor. But now was not the moment to fret over decisions made in the past, but to plan for everything that was to come.

Meanwhile, Shara’s had been trying to suppress a chuckle. But slapping her hand down on the desk, she couldn’t help but let out a mirthless chuckle. “Ahhh, It’s Sempra Three all over again. Lovely. Well, been in worse positions before and some of them a lot longer term. All I can say Admiral is that you better have some good info from the ground first if our access to resources are going to be cut. I want anything and everything you have. We’re going in partly blind, but like hell if I’m going in unprepared.” She knew damn well they had a bunch more info that she hadn’t seen yet and she wanted it asap.

Micah chuckled at his wife. “Our package has that, Commander. The Admiral here is in charge of infil and exfil.... the particulars are just for all of us.”

Pikelsimer, FedSec

Was she happy about all of this? Not in the least. It didn’t even rate close to being on her list of things she was excited about in her life, even if she had lived and breathed this kind of work for a long time now. But a realization came to her and Shara snorted. “Well, at least it’s not the Delta Quadrant.” She had few true fears in her life. One was negated it seemed (she hoped forever). Another was still buried in the bottom of the memory pile and the last she had told Micah sitting there in the mess hall on the Manhattan, haunted by pieces of the past other saw as the greatest adventure an officer could have. But she hadn’t been an officer then. It had been different.
