“Are you asking me out for a dinner date Commander?” Paddy chuckled.-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethany looked shocked despite the twinkle in her eye. “Certainly not. You are the one that suggested the mess at 1730. But I suppose we have a few more moments to kill before we’re ‘late’.” S Cupping the still warm glass in both hands she took another taste. “I could get used to this on a regular basis.”
Gadi, CoS
“I’d be more than happy to make this a regular thing.” Paddy replied with a warm smile, then, rising to his feet, he gestured to the door, “Shall we?”
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethy smiled over the rim of the cup. She would be more than happy to make it a regular thing, as friends or more. Bethany was practical and new that instant attraction didn’t always last, but she hoped that wasn’t the case. She stood up from where she was leaning against the desk. She walked out the door with him. “You know Paddy, this is a really small ship. People are going to talk.” And she laughed softly not concerned in the least.
Gadi CoS
‘May as well give them something to talk about Commander,’ Paddy said, extending a hand.
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethy grinned, tucked her hand onto his arm and waited for the lift to arrive. Once it did she stepped onto the lift, “Deck 5 right?” and off they went two decks down and then stepped off the lift and turned towards the ‘living area’ of the deck rather than engineering, and entering the mess. “So other than Irish coffee, which I think I’ve already developed a preference for, what did you have in mind, Paddy?”
Gadi, CoS
“I figured dinner wouldn’t be out of the question, maybe there are a few other old Irish delicacies I can tempt you with?” Paddy slipped his arm out from Bethy’s hand and gestured for her to enter in front of him.
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethy stepped into the mess in front of him scanning the room taking in the other crew there. Only a couple of tables were occupied, leaving them with a choice of a table or a seat on the couch by one of the LCARS displays. She waited for Paddy to join her and she waived toward the replicators, “Tempt away Paddy. I’ll find us somewhere to sit. Do you have a preference ?”
Gadi, CoS
“Wherever the lady doth go, I do follow.” Paddy winked and crossed over to the bank of replicators.
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethy liked the way Paddy turned a phrase. It was very old fashioned. She chose a table that would allow them to see the various LCARS if they wanted or sit with their back to them and simply enjoy each other’s company.
Gadi, CoS
Several minutes passed before Paddy reappeared with two plates of food. They were both the same but Paddy felt that Bethy would appreciate the sentiment nonetheless. “Irish Stew to start, and… I don’t know how you like your steak so I got them both medium rare, with another Irish coffee.”
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
“Medium rare is as cooked as I go. If I ate anythin’ more cooked my uncles would fly all da way out ‘ere to teach me a lesson.” Bethany spooned some of the broth and tasted it. A trick she’d learned from Jake. The broth held all the flavor. She’d been spoiled on her time between assignments; she gotten to visit T’Jal and Jake on Norda III and Jake always cooked fresh. So much better than replicator perfection. But it was still good and she smiled when she tasted it and took a larger bite. “What is that? Lamb? Reminds me of something my uncle makes but with rabbit.”
Gadi, CoS
Paddy grinned, “Ahh, it is a specially spiced Lamb, should hit you any second now.” The Irishman raised his coffee, “To making new discoveries, together.”
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethany raised her glass and took a drink of the coffee. The spice registered a minute later and she let it settle and then nodded. “Not bad. Give you old fashioned heart burn.”
Gadi CoS“Nothing Sickbay wouldn’t be able to fix,” Paddy grinned, “Another drink?”
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Bethany chuckled, “If I need Sickbay for heartburn I’m in trouble.” She picked up the coffee and shook her head, “Nope, I’ve still got plenty. So tell me something about yourself, Paddy.” Bethany knew the Asimov was a small crew and didn’t normally rate a counselor. And a crew this small everyone was picked for their skill set. She was curious on multiple levels about the individuals. Especially a counselor that turned a fitness for duty session into a dinner date invitation.
