She snorted. “Oh, in my particular line of work, if things came down to drawing a phaser, something went terribly wrong and in the aftermath, if a person survived, heads would roll.” A sly smile slipped onto her face. “I’m dandy with all sorts of weapons, but the best ones are the ones no one knows are coming.”

Paddy grinned, “In that case Commander,” he said, “Remind me to stand behind you if we ever get into a fire fight. So, are you still in touch with members of your family now?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Shara inhaled slowly and evenly. “I have my daughter with whom I’ve been fairly recently reunited. I’ll be keeping in regular contact with her and I should get to see her soonish, since she’s getting married. That’s one event I don’t intend to miss,” she said simply.

Commander Calloway, CIO

Paddy smiled, “Be sure to pass on my congratulations Commander.” He wanted to take a stab at digging deeper into the relationship between Calloway and her daughter, so taking a deep breath, he posed the question, “If you don’t mind me asking ma’am, what do you mean by recently reunited?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Okay, she realized not everyone had the memory abilities she did, not to mention the training to recall info accurately, and she had spat a lot of info at him, but she thought those details about Faye would have been something he’d remember. “You know… an investigation I was running that led me to her. She had no memory of prior when she was a prisoner of the Tal Shair and I was undercover? And I got PTSD from the event? When my investigation led me to my daughter’s work, I was forced to confront her but also reveal my presence finally. It’s been… messy and interesting. But ultimately good. We were apart for twenty-five years, Counsellor. We’ve missed a lot of each other’s lives and we’re slowly trying to fill in the puzzle pieces.”

“Of course, forgive me Commander, it’s been a long week. Are you on medication for the PTSD, if you don’t mind me asking?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Shara nodded. “I take an antidepressant which helps with some of my symptoms. The rest I manage with mindfulness and regular therapy.” She shrugged. “It was working fine until Faye was in crisis. Seeing her in so much emotional pain again just… triggered everything. I don’t know if what I’m taking is no longer enough or if I just need to give it more time.”

“If you’ll permit me Commander,” Paddy added, slightly more seriously than he had been so far, “I can pass the information on to Sickbay and see if Doctor Senek knows of any other forms of medication that may help?”
