Lucky for her that he disappeared under the water and didn’t wait for her response. She wasn’t sure she was ready to give him one. He was right enough on that, and his hesitation at telling her wasn’t entirely misplaced. She didn’t fear his depth of feeling but at the same time she was’t sure what she was feeling herself. Maybe she wasn’t ready, or maybe she was in denial. Who knew.
Diving in gently, she followed him back through the tunnel, trying to ignore the unease the tunnel itself brought up. She wasn’t claustrophobic, but definitely one of those ill-placed side effects of her PTSD was the fear of being trapped. of having no way out. Tight spaces didn’t help that feeling even if they themselves weren’t the thing she was afraid of. But all her training helped her push through the discomfort, setting it aside so that she could complete a task: in this case, making it through and safely back up to the surface of the pool at the waterfall. Rigorous hardship training had its perks.

As she surfaced, Micah was already at the side. The sun had definitely moved on it’s journey as they had been inside the cavern, and the late afternoon light reflected off the water. He had the creel open and had just placed the two jars inside with the trout and he looked back at her and said “Well, looks like your company kept me occupied for a while longer than I thought.” and he grinned. He climbed out and climbed onto a rock, standing in all his ‘glory’ and letting the sun dry him off. He picked up her rod and said “Still need one more for dinner, right?” and cast across the pool to the far side.
Micah
“I thought I was eating Gratin of Breech,” she deadpanned as she drew herself out of the water and squeezed the water out of her long hair. With a second ringing out, she moved over to her clothing and just slipped the sleeveless shirt over top. She could dry off properly later and the sun would help with that. That didn’t mean she didn’t cast occasional glances at Micah’s naked body, momentarily thinking about making use of that tub later.

“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” he teased. A few minutes later, he was adding another trout to the creel and getting dressed. He looked at her, dressed as she was, and smiled in way that said he was about to make a somewhat wicked suggestion. But he looked at the sun and said “Naw… later, though.” and winked. He pulled on his shoes and then said “You ready, darlin’? Got get you back so you can get these bad boys cleaned up.” and he patted the fish holder as they began the walk back.
Micah
“Ready. And I might not have helped catch dinner, but I can clean them while you get started on the rest,” she said, carrying her fishing rod in one hand and her clothes draped over the other arm.
With an unabashed smile Shara caught up with him and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. “So sue me, I like looking at you.”

“As long as that ain’t all you like doing to me, I ain’t gonna complain.” and he leaned over and kissed her fully on the lips and then grinned. “Yeah… I’m gonna like havin’ ya here, I think.”
“I’m a fun challenge,” she bantered back.
He led them back to the house, stopping a few places and picking fresh herbs, some mushrooms, and few other odds and ends. As they came back into the clearing he walked her up to the porch. “Ok… if you go around the backside of the house, there’s a deep sink, board, and knives. Composter for the fish is the big blue barrel. I’d uh… hold your breath when you open it. It’s been a while.” and he chuckled. “I’ll go in and start the rest, okay?”
Micah
Despite the clothes on her arm she snapped off a cheeky salute. “Yes Sir! Commencing Operation Fish Gutting, Sir!” She held on to her mock seriousness as she draped her clothes over the railing and grabbed the fish from him. Heading off round back, she shot him a wink, still only in her t-shirt.
