“Indeed,” Paddy replied, “I trust you’ve had no ill feelings since you came on board ma’am?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Other than, as I have mentioned before, that I wouldn’t have minded a little less adrenaline filled arrival, I don’t have an ill feelings. Not towards this ship and her crew anyway,” the First Officer replied and then admitted, “I am wondering though if I made the right choice in accepting this position. Not because of me, but because of Liara. With a crew of only 70 the Asimov is a very small ship. The Four Winds was much larger and there were many families and children on board. She had teachers and classmates. Something she won’t have here. Or at least not in the same way. It makes me question if I made the right choice.”

Paddy grinned and clasped a friendly hand on the XO’s shoulder, “I know how you must feel, I moved around a lot when I was younger, what with my father needing to move between medical facilities to deal with the effects of his PTSD, did Liara have many friends on the Four Winds?”

As Paddy touched her shoulder, Siadra shifted her position slightly to put a little more distance between them and the slightest hint of a frown appeared on her face. Though her voice remained calm and friendly as she replied, “I’m not sure what you’d consider as ‘many friends’, but yes, she had friends on the Four Winds.”

Paddy retracted slightly and crossed his hands in his lap, “Forgive me Commander, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.” Changing tact, Paddy added. “This is a common thing in young children, they get so used to one place and one group of people, this is where the real event Holodeck sims would come in handy, they are designed to get Liara used to crowds of new people.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Of course and I know you didn’t,” Siadra replied and the little tension that had slipped into her posture seemed to ease. “As for my daughter, I know those programs can be beneficial. I also know her very well. She is a highly sensitive child and while I’ve been helping her to be okay in situations that are uncomfortable for her and want her to be able to handle all sorts of situations well, I don’t want her to get overwhelmed as that will not help her. So let’s take one step at a time and give her the space she needs. Even though it seemed like we were gone for months, with the time distortion it’s actually not even been a week since we arrived on the Asimov and then made our way back into normal space. So I’d suggest we focus on both our psychological evaluations fro now and talk about my daughter at another time? There is only so long Si’Rek can keep an eye on her and I really need to be cleared for duty. As do you,” she said, her voice still kind, but assertive.
