“You are correct, we have been rotating crew recently. Some of it is normal transfers and such. Some people were spooked by the crash landing. We’re going to be taking on new crew as well to compensate for anyone who left. The only real thing to be aware of is that the crew really lacks the bonds of having served together for any length of time. There are some holdovers, but I’m a new Captain for them and some members of staff will be new to their positions and the ship.” Sara sighed. “My expectations… this ship has its struggles, but I think this could be a fine exploration and science craft. Our missions vary from day to day, but we could be the finest.” The new Captain laughed lightly and turned to her XO. “Honestly getting the crew rallied together beyond all being Starfleet will be our first goal, and something I’ll need the help of a counselor on.”

Siadra listened closely and attentively, making mental notes of everything the Captain said. After remaining silent for a moment of two after Sara had stopped talking, she replied, “We certainly have our work cut out for us and I’m confident that together we will be able to manage it. Hopefully we’ll get a new ship’s counsellor sooner rather than later, but till then I’m more than willing to step up and assist in that role. And I think I already have a few ideas how to do that.” Her voice was calm and even, confident without being arrogant.

“I certainly hope we’ll have a counselor soon as well, but your assistance is appreciated.” Sara turned to face the XO. “I think this’ll work out just fine, Commander. Welcome aboard the Asimov.” She smiled at Liara. “And welcome to you too Liara.”

Looking up from her reading, Liara replied shyly, “Thank you Captain.” Giving her daughter’s shoulder a gentle squeeze, Siadra added, “Yes, thank you Captain. Is there anything else we should talk about right now or should we let you get back to your other duties?”

Sara gestured to her desk, piled high with PaDDs. “Well I’ve got one or two reports to review, so for now you’re dismissed. Report to the bridge bright and early tomorrow. I look forward to working with you Commander.”
