(jg) Ashur and walked over announcing his presence along the way. “Evening Lieutenant Ashur, What kind of questions do you have about the shields?” He was still getting familiar with the systems himself, but he was already fairly comfortable with how the Ark Angel was operating. I do have a question, but not on our shields.” He explained gesturing to an extra seat at his desk. “For the last several years I have been working on a new shield system. I have been reviewing combat logs from both the dominion war and our encounters with the Borg. It seems like the vast majority of our adversaries use energy based weapons. While our current shields can absorb energy and physical attacks, They don’t do either very well.” He grabbed a padd from off his desk and handed it to the Chief Engineer. : : “My design, while incomplete, as I am no engineer, would focus the shield systems to better handle energy attacks, but at the expense of physical attacks. The idea of this shield is that, while it starts off very weak, the more energy that hits it, the stronger it becomes. The energy from the attacks is diverted into the shield grid, strengthening it, any excess energy is absorbed into these battery like areas. However, it requires a lot of energy just to raise the shields and my attempts at simulation show that anything using this shield grid would be badly damaged before the shield gained enough energy to fully protect the ship. However, after two hits at the shield, the ship is essentially invincible to energy attacks.
